This project was created by students at University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and supported by a People, Planet and Prosperity Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. You can learn more about us by playing the video to the left.
Through this site, we hope to offer pathways to the three R's—reduce, reuse and recycle. Accordingly, we’ve provided summaries of reuse and recycle resources that we have found useful. We invite you to join the discussion on Solutions That Beget Solutions. Also, we encourage you to explore this site and then test your knowledge by taking one of our quizzes.
Your input is important to our project, the evolution of this site and our planet. Please take a few moments to share your comments and suggestions with us. Join in on our discussions or share your questions, comments and feedback with us. We look forward to hearing from you!
Whether you look around and see a forest of trees or the wide expanse of the ocean, the beauty of our planet is all around us. However, our earth, everything that lives on it and its ability to provide food, water and shelter are increasingly in peril.
Earth, our only home, is too precious to be taken for granted. There are so many little things we can do each day that don't require us to totally rearrange our daily schedules. In fact, many activities that minimize our impact on the environment can actually save us money, and time, and are much healthier for us.
We can take baby steps, we can start small, but we must make the commitment to do something today. And as UMUC students, we have made that commitment.
UMUC students – stationed and living all over the world — formed this site. We come from all walks of life including the military. We are your neighbors and co-workers. Although we come from different backgrounds and experiences, we're all united by our concern for the environment and our commitment to this project. We hope that we can help provide pathways to the three R's – "reduce", "reuse", and "recycle". Accordingly, we've provided summaries of "reuse and recycle" resources that we found and use. We also want you to get involved in our "reduce discussions" and contribute to "Solutions that Beget Solutions". Come and join us.
