Biography
Hi, my name is Khari Parker and I would like to take a moment to tell you about myself. I am originally from Baltimore, Maryland and now reside in Northern Virginia. This is my second semester as an MBA student and I feel that I made a great choice by deciding to study here at UMUC. I really enjoy taking MBA classes online and appreciate the convenience and flexibility of the online courses.
In 2004, I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) with a BS in electrical engineering. After I obtained my undergraduate degree, I entered the workforce for two years. The decision to work before entering graduate school was a personal decision, which has enabled me to relate my work experience to the class material from our MBA program.
While at UMCP, my four-year participation in the Hinman CEOs program gave me the opportunity to obtain real-world leadership experience as I led the day-to-day activities of my business.
Currently I work in the telecommunications industry where I manage corporate and government computer networks.
In my free time I enjoy challenging myself by striving to make a positive impact in all activities that I pursue. Additionally, I enjoy exercising on a daily basis and enjoying the "little things" in life.
Nomination Essay
Article I - Section 1 of the Student Advisory Council (STAC) constitution states: "The purpose of the Student Advisory Council (STAC) is to provide a means for UMUC students to give input to, and be informed about, significant institutional decisions. STAC members will act in an advisory capacity to the President and other University officials as appropriate."
Your suggestions and concerns are very important to the success of our school and your overall satisfaction with your graduate experience. For this reason, it is important that you have a representative on the STAC who is dedicated to conveying your suggestions and concerns to university officials in an accurate and timely manner.
As your STAC representative I will lead with integrity and serve as the unbiased, collective voice of the students, with all of my input and suggestions to the president and fellow STAC members representing the needs of the graduate student body.
Each decision that I make will be aimed at increasing our school's reputation, keeping tuition expenses at a minimum, and providing more value-added resources for local and distance education students.
I look forward to making a positive impact and pushing for change when and where change is necessary. Please accept this nomination as my humble request to serve as your STAC representative.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
