The Graduate School is pleased to announce exciting changes to its programs beginning with the fall 2007 semester. Please consult the list of FAQs below for more information.

Q.Why the change?
A. Changes to the courses and program requirements are being implemented to ensure that our curriculum remains current, career-relevant, and high in quality.
Q. How does the change impact me?
A. The impact of the enhanced curriculum will vary depending upon which program you are in. To see how your program is being impacted, please select your current program from the Program Index.
Note: All students who were admitted previous to fall 2007, but have not taken any for-credit courses that count toward their degree requirements must follow the new program.
Q.When are the changes effective?
A. The updated Graduate catalog and revised programs will be effective beginning with the fall 2007 semester. All students who were admitted previous to fall 2007, but have not taken any for-credit courses that count toward their degree requirements must follow the new program. All new students taking courses admitted for the fall semester and beyond must follow the new requirements.
If you were admitted and started taking courses in your program prior to fall 2007, your program will remain available to you. You will need to use any new course names and numbers if applicable. For information about those changes, please select your current program from the Program Index.
Q.Who can I talk to about the change to my program?
A. For help, you are always welcome to contact your advisor or the Graduate Advising Center at 301-985-7155 or at gradinfo@umuc.edu. For the contact specific to your program, please refer select your current program from the Program Index page. A departmental contact will be listed in the "Contact Us" box.
Q.What happens next?
A. Please select your program from the Program Index to see if any of the changes will impact your program. Depending on your program, you may be interested in some of the new options available to you as of fall 2007. If you would like to change your current program to take advantage of one of the new program options, you may fill out the Declaration Form.
Q. It says that my program is no longer accepting new applications or I can't find my program under the new curriculum. Can I still complete the program I started?
A. UMUC will make every effort to ensure that students following the curriculum requirements established prior to fall 2007 are provided the opportunity to complete their current degree requirements. Keep in mind there are time limits to all degree and certificate programs. Your advisor will work closely with you to ensure that you are on the right track.
The restructuring resulted in a change in the title of some programs. If you don’t see your program, it may have a new title that you don’t recognize. Please contact your advisor or the Graduate Advising Center at 301-985-7155 or at gradinfo@umuc.edu. Your advisor can help show you how your program will appear in the revised curriculum.
Q. How long do I have to complete my current program?
A. Per UMUC policy, each degree and certificate program has a time limit to ensure the content is current and relevant when you graduate. For most regular graduate programs, you have 7 years to complete from the time you are admitted. For the MBA programs, you have 5 years to complete. Q. Is there a chart that compares my current program to the new one or shows course changes?
A. Yes. Please refer to your current program from the Program Index and from there you will be able to download a PDF document that allows you to easily compare the course names and numbers for your current program compared to the any revisions in course names and numbers as of fall 2007. In addition, the table will compare the requirements of the current programs to the revised curriculum for fall 2007. The highlighted courses on the right side of the table show you the courses included in the revised curriculum.
