Email Assistance: How Do I Access Generic Email Account?

Your Exchange account was migrated to the new UMUC Gmail account but your department also uses a generic account. While all UMUC Exchange accounts are getting migrated, there will be a "co-existence" period between Exchange and UMUC Gmail.

Step 1
Please make sure Outlook is not running.

Windows XP: Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel.
Windows 7: Go to Start > Control Panel.

Click on Mail icon.

Click on the Show Profiles button.
Step 4
Click on the radio button to select Prompt for a profile to be used.

Then select the Add button.

Step 5
Type your department's email Generic Account Name in the Profile name field.

Choose Manually configure server settings or additional server types and then click Next button.

Choose Microsoft Exchange and click Next button.

Under Add New Account tab, fill the fields with the below information:

Server: adeex01.us.umuc.edu
Username: Your department's Generic account Name - the one you are setting up to access

Then click Check Name button.

Once the account is found and in bold, click the Finish button.
