Changing your email display name here will not affect your student record in arenas that require UMUC to capture your legal name. If you wish to change your legal name you must follow the required procedures noted in Demographic Information Update Form.
Step 1: Log into MyUMUC with your username and password.
Step 2: Click MyInfo on the navigation bar, and then click Name.
Step 3: If a preferred name is displayed, but you want to change it for your email account, click the edit button beside the Name Type - Preferred.
If you do not have a preferred name, click ADD A NEW NAME.
Step 4: Add a new name
- Select Preferred in the Format Using: drop-down menu.
- Type a display name in the First Name field.
- Select a date for the new display name to take effect.
- Click Save.
Step 5: The Preferred name will appear in your Names list.
