Wordpress Step 3: Editing Posts & Adding Images
 
In this video we will focus on editing your wordpress.com blog posts and adding images to them in order to complete your assignment.

1. Open the Posts menu on your dashboard to edit the "Hello world" post, which was created as a placeholder.

2. Hover your cursor over "Hello world" and select Edit, or left click on the title of the post, "Hello world."

3. Delete the current title of the post and type in a new title.

4. Delete what is currently in the editing box and enter your new text.

5. Use the tools of the visual editor to format your text.

6. To see more formatting options, click on Show/Hide Kitchen Sink icon.

7. To use pre-formatted text from a word processing program like Microsoft Word, click on the Paste from Word command, copy and paste your formatted text from Word into the dialog box, then click on Insert.

8. Click on "Preview" to see how the changes will look when the post is live.

9. To insert a hyperlink, highlight the word or words to be clicked on, then click on the hyperlink icon. In the dialog box that pops up, copy and paste the URL you wish to link to, add a title that appears when the user hovers on the link, and place a check in "Open link in a new window or tab."

10. Click "Save Link" to finish. Click "Preview" to test the link.

Adding Images

1. Click on the Add Image icon of the visual editor.

2. To upload an image from your computer, click on Select Files in the dialog box that appears.

3. Use the browse window to navigate to the image file located on your computer and select the image.

4. In the edit window that appears, provide a title, caption, and description for the image.

5. Select the position of your image on the page and its size.

6. Click "Insert into Post."

7. on your dashboard page, click "Preview changes."

8. To edit your image more, return to the dashboard, click on the image in the edit box, then select the edit icon on the top left of the image.

9. on the edit image interface that appears, change size or position.

10. Click "Update" to apply the changes and return to your dashboard.

The second way to add an image is by linking to its URL.
1. Click the "Add image" icon on your dashboard's visual editor.

2. Click "From URL" at the top of the dialog box.

3. Copy and paste the image's complete URL in the data field provided.

4. Provide a title, alternate text and caption for the image.

5. Select a position for the image in your post.

6. When finished, click "Insert into Post."

7. On your dashboard, select "Preview."

8. To edit your image again, return to the dashboard, click on the image in the edit box, and then select the edit icon on the top left of the image.

9. Change size or position. Apply the changes and return to your dashboard for another preview. Continue this process until the image and the text for your post match in the manner you wish them to.

10. When finished editing the post, click on the blue "Update" button. You will be notified that your post has been finalized and your blog updated. Click on "View Post" to view the final product.

Note: In the next video we will add pages to our blog and embed video in those pages.
