Financial Aid: What is the time frame for processing financial aid documentation?

How long does it take UMUC to receive my FAFSA after I complete it at FAFSA.gov?
 
It typically takes 3-5 days for the Department of Education to process your FAFSA and for UMUC to receive it. Upon receipt of your FAFSA, it will appear in your 'To-Do List' on your MyUMUC in 'Received' status. This is to let you know that we have received it and are currently in the process of reviewing it.
UMUC received my FAFSA. How long does it take to process?Once UMUC receives your FAFSA, we will automatically review it and let you know if other information is required to process your application. We will let you know what is required by adding items to your 'To-Do List' and also by sending you an email. If UMUC does not contact you with additional requirements, you will typically be awarded in 2-3 business days from when the Financial Aid Office receives it.
 
My FAFSA was selected for Verification. How long does this process take?The Verification process can differ for each student. Once you submit all required documentation to the Financial Aid Office (and these items no longer appear on your 'To-Do List'), your application will typically be reviewed the following week. During this review process, the financial aid office will contact you if they need additional information or clarification.  In some cases, the Financial Aid Office will need to update your FAFSA based on the information you provided. In this scenario, UMUC submits corrections to the Department of Education. Once the Department of Education processes those corrections, we will award you in 2-3 days. It typically takes 3-5 days for the Department of Education to process corrections. If corrections are not needed and the office is able to verify your file based on the information you provided, your file will be awarded in 2-3 days.
My FAFSA has a C-Code or C-Flag what does this mean and how long does it take to process?In some cases, the Department of Education may require UMUC to verify additional information on the student's record. Examples of this may include confirming Selective Service registration or citizenship status.  Once UMUC receives your FAFSA, we will automatically review it and let you know if other information is required to process your application. We will let you know what is required by adding items to your 'To-Do List' and also by sending you an email. Once you submit all required documentation to the Financial Aid Office (and these items no longer appear on your 'To-Do List'), your application will typically be reviewed the following week. During this review process, the financial aid office will contact you if they need additional information or clarification. If nothing else is required, you will typically be awarded 2-3 days after this review is complete.
