Students whose financial status has changed since completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can submit a Special Conditions Appeal.
Examples of a Financial Aid change in Status include:
Death of Parent or Spouse
1. Visit the Special Conditions Appeal webpage to find the form that corresponds to your circumstances.
Note: The form must be completed in full or else it will not be accepted or reviewed.
2. Submit the form and any supporting documentation to the Office of Financial Aid (OFA) through the UMUC Help Center. Note: Select for instructions on how to submit documents online.
3. After the appeal has been received, the OFA will provide notice within 5 to 7 business days if additional information is required.
4. Once the completed appeal has been received, a decision will typically be rendered in 10 business days.
Note: Review the form carefully to determine what additional information may need to be submitted. Ensure name, Student ID, signature, and date appear on all forms.
