VA Benefits: What causes a veteran's Chapter 33 Benefits to decrease?

Question: What causes a veteran's Chapter 33 Benefits (Post-9/11 GI Bill) to decrease?

Answer: Non-refundable scholarships, tuition assistance from employers, private industry, government, military, tuition remission from employers, external aid payments, Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MYCAA), and University System of Maryland (USM) waivers will reduce one's Chapter 33 benefits.

For additional assistance, please call the Department of Veteran's Affairs Education Customer Service Office at 888-442-4551.

Note: Financial Aid/personal loans do not reduce one's Chapter 33 benefits
