In FY 07, UMUC's worldwide enrollment ranked 2nd among 4-year degree granting public universities in the U.S.
More than 32,000 stateside students attended UMUC in fall 2007, an increase of 74% over the past 10 years.
The Board of Regents projects that UMUC's enrollments will grow by 51% by 2017.

UMUC is one of the largest public providers of online higher education in the Nation.
In Fiscal Year (FY) 2007, UMUC had over 177,000 online course enrollments.
Currently, UMUC offers more than 100 bachelors and masters degree programs and certificates fully online. In FY 2007, UMUC offered close to 700 distinct courses online.
In 2007 UMUC's M.S. in Biotechnology Studies and M.S. in Environmental Management degree programs were designated "Professional Science Master's" programs by the Council of Graduate Schools.
In 2006, UMUC’s Center for Teaching and Learning was awarded the Sloan C Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching award for CTLA 201-- Teaching with WebTycho Training Course.
In 2006, the Master of Distance Education degree program received accreditation as an e-learning program by the European Foundation for Management Development.
In 2005, UMUC’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program won the prestigious 2005 Sloan Award for Most Outstanding Online Teaching and Learning Program.
In 2004, UMUC garnered the 2004 Prize of Excellence from the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) for "the highest possible excellence in the fields of open, distance, virtual, and flexible learning."

In fall 2007, UMUC served 19,581 Maryland residents.
In FY 2007, UMUC offered on site, face to face instruction at 21 sites throughout Maryland.
Maryland residents represented 60 % of UMUC’s Fall 2007 stateside course enrollments.
UMUC has alliances with 14 of the Maryland Community Colleges, which includes 280 articulated programs.
In FY 2007, 738 undergraduate degrees in Information Technology (IT) were awarded by UMUC’s stateside programs. UMUC also awarded 409 graduate IT degrees.

In FY 2007, UMUC’s overseas divisions offered on site classes in 22 countries throughout the world, enrolling 38,288 individual students in undergraduate and graduate programs.

In fall 2007, 31% of UMUC’s stateside students were African-Americans; minority students comprised 42% of the total enrollment – UMUC enrolls more African American students than any of the four individual Maryland HBCU’s.
In FY 2007, 30% of students who took at least 1 online class were African-American; minority students made up 40%.
In FY 2007, 30% of all degrees were awarded to African-American students.

In fall 2007, the median age for students enrolled in UMUC’s stateside undergraduate programs was 31 years old.
As of fall 2006, four out of five undergraduate students enrolled in UMUC’s stateside programs were working full time.

Currently, UMUC enrolls close to 60,000 active duty military, reserves, dependants and veterans.
In addition, UMUC offers courses at 150 military installations and operating locations on seven continents.
KMI Media and Military Advanced Education (MAE) have named UMUC one of the top ten colleges and universities serving military students for 2007.
