Overseas students, faculty, and staff do not receive ID cards
with barcodes attached. If your name and number are not recognized and
you get to the Invalid Authorization page, to obtain access to the library
databases, please fill out and submit the appropriate form:
Please have your instructor contact the library at library@umuc.edu to ask for extended database access and to give us your expected date of completion. We can then update your expiration date so you can have access to the databases.
Once you are registered for a course, your remote access to the library databases will be activated one week before the course begins.
Because of licensing restrictions, we limit remote database access to students who are currently taking a course or are within the one week window before the course begins.
In the mean time, you can access online subscription databases at UMUC's Information and Library Services in Room 2255 of the Student and Faculty Services Center (SFSC) or you can visit any USMAI library (University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions) such as McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland, College Park or the Shady Grove Library/Media Center in Rockville and use the electronic databases to which they subscribe.
You may also want to check your local public library since many public libraries now offer library card holders remote access to databases that can be used for research.
Once you are assigned to a specific course (in the MyUMUC Portal), your remote access to the library databases will be activated four weeks before the course begins.

Due to licensing restrictions, we limit remote database access to current UMUC students, faculty, and staff. However, UMUC alumni can access online subscription databases at UMUC's Information and Library Services in Room 2255 of the Student and Faculty Services Center (SFSC) in Adelphi. You may also access UMUC's proprietary databases at the UMUC computer lab in Room 1270 of the Student and Faculty Service Center in Adelphi, as well as the computer labs at Dorsey Station and the Waldorf Center for Higher Education. You will need your UMUC alumni ID to use the computer labs.
