Using the Library Catalog
Other Searches:
From the advanced word search menu, you have the option to join
search terms in indexed fields. In the example below, Walker will be searched
as an author joined by color purple searched as word/s in the
title.

Other search options from the
screen are the browse search and command search options.

- A browse search will display a list that you can browse beginning
with your search term/s. Use browse when you have an exact title or
beginning of a title, or you have the call number of an item and want
to find other items on the same subject.
If you click on the browse search link, you will see
the browse search menu. This option allows you to search for books using
the title beginning with... or any of the other available
search options.
- A command search allows you to structure your search in a specific
way, which is useful when you want to create your own customized searches.
For example, you can type cor= harvard business school to find
items with the Harvard Business School as a corporate author.

Click on the
link for the searching options for command searches.
This concludes the Other Searches section of this tutorial. In the next
section, we will discuss requesting and renewing items using my
