University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offers student services at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. This site is on a military installation. Please call this location to receive information on base access. In some instances, a FERPA Release Form may be required.

topDirections and Parking

Take the Beltway (I-495) to Exit 34 south (Route 355, Wisconsin Avenue) toward Bethesda and Washington, D.C. Use the main hospital entrance, Gate Two across from the Medical Center Metro stop on Wisconsin Avenue. After the guard station turn right on to Palmer Road South. Turn left on Palmer Road East. Turn right into the second garage, labeled Building 54 and park. Enter Building Eight, directly across from parking garage, through entrance marked Staff Entrance. You will immediately pass the base police station. Follow hallway until you reach the first set of elevators, turn left and take the first right (this foyer is called Main Street). Follow foyer until the first four-way hall intersection and turn right. Follow hall until it ends and turn right. Elevators will be immediately after right turn. The UMUC office is located on the fourth floor, Room 452 in Building Three.

topLibrary Services

At the Adelphi Student and Faculty Services Center, UMUC librarians are available Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Room 2255. UMUC staff members are also available during selected hours at McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) campus. At either location, you can access the online catalog of the University System of Maryland (USM), more than 100 databases (over 50 of which provide full text journal and newspaper articles), and tutorials on how to do research. Materials from any USM library can be delivered to you at the Student and Faculty Center, Room 2255. Security and Civilian Waiver Information. If you do not have a military ID, call 301-654-1377 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for information on base entry. Due to recent conditions of heightened security, civilian students taking UMUC classes on military bases may be required to complete a waiver in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) permitting UMUC to provide personal information (i.e., Social Security number, address, and telephone number) to the military administration. You may find the FERPA waiver form online at http://www.umuc.edu/studserv/.
