University of Maryland University College offers undergraduate and graduate students a wide range of merit- and need-based scholarships, many of which are slated specifically for military personnel, veterans, spouses, and family members.
Applying for Scholarships at UMUC
UMUC's scholarship application process is easy. First, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You'll be prescreened for scholarship eligibility based on the following criteria:
- Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 15 credits at UMUC with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Graduate students must have completed a minimum of 9 credits at UMUC with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
After you apply and gain acceptance to UMUC, you'll be notified of your scholarship eligibility in your online student account. You should then complete and submit your UMUC Scholarship Application—available in your student account—as soon as possible, as scholarships are awarded for the academic year on a first-come, first-served basis. UMUC scholarship application deadlines are July 1 for the academic year or fall semester only and November 1 for spring semester only. You'll be notified if you're selected to receive an award.
To be eligible for a scholarship through UMUC, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and a degree-seeking student at the university. Unless otherwise stated, you must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the award period. Employees of UMUC, their dependents, and students who receive tuition remission from other institutions are not eligible for UMUC scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial need, military affiliation, program of study, and many other considerations.
