Resolving the Repeated Security Pop-up Window in MyUMUC
How to Update Your Computer's Time and Time Zone Settings
When accessing the MyUMUC portal, students who use Internet Explorer 6 or 7 may encounter a Security Information box that continually appears, regardless of whether you select the "Yes" or "No" command.

Causes: This problem occurs when your computer's time and time zone settings are not in sync. For example, if you travel to Europe and manually set your computer to local time without changing the time zone, you will experience this problem. This problem may also have occurred if you manually updated your computer's time for daylight saving time.
To solve the problem, please take the following steps.
1. Close your browser or browser tab
To stop the box from reappearing, you must first close your browser or the browser tab that the Security Information box is open in, as shown in the image below.

2. Modify your computer's time zone
To modify the time zone, first double click on the time on your task bar.

PLEASE NOTE: When adjusting your time settings, it is important that you update your time zone prior to reviewing or modifying your time on the "Date & Time" tab.
Click on the "Time Zone" tab. Then, select your current time zone from the drop-down box. Your computer's time will be reset based on the new time zone that you selected. To check your time zone, please click here.

To make sure your computer's time is right, click on the "Date & Time" tab. Make sure it shows the date and time that is right for the location you are in.

You must change both your computer's time and time zone. Please note that computer systems use all three information pieces --date, time, and time zone--when setting cookies to provide secure access to MyUMUC during authentication.
3. Please follow these steps and make sure you check the time zone whenever you change time settings on your computer (IE users).
