UMUC's UCSP 635 course has received a 2016 Effective Practice Award from the Online Learning Consortium (OLC).

Essentials of Computer Programming is recommended preparation for bioinformatics, data analytics, database technology, and software engineering students with little or no programming experience. It offers an applied approach to creating computer programs and covers all aspects of basic programming, including variables, arrays, conditions, and input/output.

UMUC's award is one of only eight that was selected through a peer review process. The award will be presented at the OLC Accelerate 2016 Conference in Orlando, Florida in November during the OLC Awards Luncheon.
