UMUC's National Leadership Institute Announces Alliance with the Center for Conflict Dynamics (CCD) at Eckerd College

UMUC’s National Leadership Institute (NLI) and the Center for Conflict Dynamics (CCD) at Eckerd College, in St. Petersburg, Florida, are pleased to announce a new alliance. NLI will become a Washington, D.C., metropolitan area local provider of programs and services related to the Conflict Dynamics Profile (CDP)®.

The CDP, developed and distributed by Eckerd College, is an assessment dealing with conflict behaviors in the workplace. It provides a powerful way to improve self-awareness of what triggers conflict in individuals as well as how they respond to conflict. Based on these triggers and responses, the Conflict Dynamics Profile then provides practical approaches for improving behaviors that promote more effective workplace conflict resolution.

The CDP can be used to support an organization in the following areas:

  • Leadership development

  • Conflict resolution

  • Organizational development

  • Change management

  • Team building

  • Career development

  • Executive coaching
The collaboration between NLI and the Center for Conflict Dynamics will include a number of conflict management initiatives, including:
  • CDP certification classes for qualified professionals, both face-to-face and online

  • Training programs, both face-to-face and online

  • Conflict coaching services

  • Special presentations and events

  • Training products

  • Research
NLI will offer its first open-enrollment CDP certification class on October 14, 2009 at the UMUC Inn and Conference Center in Adelphi, Maryland.
