Robert Ruskin, PhDDr. Robert Ruskin

Dr. Robert Ruskin has been chief assessor for the Leadership Development Program at the National Leadership Institute since 1983. In this capacity, he is responsible for the overall quality of the assessment faculty. In addition, he has provided individual leadership assessment to more than 200 senior corporate and government executives.

Since 1987, Ruskin has been Director of the Consortium Research Fellows Program of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, where he is responsible for direction of an academic fellowship program providing technical and analytical services to research laboratories in the Department of Defense (DoD). More than 90 graduate students, 35 undergraduate students and 55 faculty members from 41 universities and colleges are involved in the program. The faculty and students assist in a wide array of DoD-sponsored research projects at 18 sights the country. As a result of Dr. Ruskin's leadership in the above programs and his contributions to the careers of over 1,200 of our next generation of America's psychologists, he was awarded one of the three American Psychological Association's 2008 Meritorious Research and Service Commendations last December.

From 1971 to 1987, Ruskin was a professor in the Department of Psychology at Georgetown University. For 10 of those years, he was the elected Chairman of the Department and for two years he served as the director of the university's Center for Personalized Instruction. He is the author of more than 85 publications and presentations on instruction and teaching, has served as editor on the boards of five scholarly journals and is a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and a Charter Fellow of the American Psychological Society.

Ruskin earned his BA from Washington College. At West Virginia University he earned an MS in Psychology, with a specialty in behavioral Psychology, and a PhD in Psychology, with specialties in organizational behavior. He holds licenses in psychologist effectiveness, instructional design, and clinical practice. He is licensed in clinical psychology in both Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Rainette BannonRainette Bannon

Rainette Bannon brings more than 25 years of experience in the public and private sectors to her position as associate director with the National Leadership Institute (NLI) at University of Maryland University College (UMUC). She directs leadership development, executive coaching and related programs. She is the lead facilitator the Center for Creative Leadership's (CCL) renowned Leadership Development Program (LDP®) and its Foundations of Leadership program. Bannon designs and facilitates custom programs, manages the Executive Coaching practice and provides feedback coaching and facilitation for external CCL and other programs. She manages 30 contract staff members—primarily psychologists—who provide training, facilitation and feedback for all NLI programs. Currently she facilitates group coaching and provides feedback on assessments for the leadership component of UMUC's Executive MBA program.

Before joining UMUC in 1999, Bannon was a trainer for leadership development programs at Pratt & Whitney and United Technologies Corp during a period of critical change for those companies. She has also provided consulting and training for numerous government agencies as well as Fortune 100 companies. Previously, she conducted senior executive search assignments for private sector companies as principal in two consulting firms. In management positions with Ernst & Young and the City of Baltimore, she headed strategic business service units.

Bannon is certified in the suite of CCL assessment instruments including: Benchmarks, Executive Dimensions and 360 BY DESIGN. She also has certification in the Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, Emotional Competence Inventory, Hogan Leadership Assessment Series, PROFILOR and Conflict Dynamics Profile. She has extensive experience in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, California Psychological Inventory and FIRO-B. Bannon received her BA, with honors, from the College of William and Mary, and holds an MS in Applied Behavioral Science, with concentration in organization development, from Johns Hopkins University. She is a Hopkins Fellow in Change Management. Bannon completed Harvard University's Executive Leadership Education Program. In 2008, she facilitated LDP and FOL programs at the Mount Eliza Institute in Melbourne, Australia, a network affiliate of CCL.

William CourvilleWilliam Courville

William Courville is an executive coach with more than 20 years of experience in business, human development, leadership development, consulting and coaching. He has worked with executives in aviation, education, financial services, government, health care, hospitality, labor, nonprofits, politics, real estate, start-ups, technology, utilities and venture capital. He researched elements of coaching for the National Leadership Institute and he has served as adjunct faculty and coach for leadership development programs delivered by NLI since 2004.

Courville served as president and chief operating officer of a hotel management company, principal partner of a real estate development company, director of human resources for a health care company, director of operations for an overseas aviation company, director of scheduling and advance operations for the executive office of the Washington, D.C., mayor and special assistant for international business development for the District of Columbia.

Currently, Courville focuses on executive coaching and leadership development. He developed and coaches in the executive coaching program at Fannie Mae. He served as strategic thinking partner and coach for design of the coaching program at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank) and he facilitates and coaches the advanced coaching program for managers of managers at MARS, Inc. Additional clients include Manor Care, Lockheed Martin, University of Maryland, the Lowell School, Service Employees International Union, CPCHealth, the Canadian Embassy, Friedman Billing Ramsey (FBR), the Association of Federal State and County Municipal Employees, Sunburst Hospitality Corp., the National Security Agency and Greenfield/Belser.

Courville received a BA in Philosophy from Loyola University New Orleans and a BS in Business Administration from Louisiana State University. He holds a MEd in Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans, and has completed coursework and submitted his dissertation for a doctorate in Psychology of Religion from the University of Ottawa. He received a certificate in leadership coaching from Georgetown University and is a certified professional coach (PCC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). He is qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the FIRO-B, the Conflict Dynamics Profile (CDP), Hogan's Motivation, Values and Preferences Inventory (MVPI), the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI), Benchmarks, Executive Dimensions and 360 by Design.

Rita CroweRita Crowe

Rita Crowe has 30 years of direct line management, executive and organization development, and training design and delivery in both corporate and nonprofit organizations. She is president of LEAP Enterprises, LLC, a training and organization development group specializing in leadership development, team building, change leadership, process and organizational consulting, and executive coaching.

Crowe has been a member of the adjunct faculty of the National Leadership Institute since 2004, where she trains in the Center for Creative Leadership's (CCL) Leadership Development Program (LDP) and provides feedback coaching in both open enrollment and custom programs. She also is an adjunct faculty member of CCL, where she facilitates the LDP and Looking Glass Experience programs, as well as trains in customized programs. She was a faculty member at CCL in Greensboro, North Carolina, for three years before establishing LEAP Enterprises.

During 12 years at the Hewlett-Packard Company, Crowe held positions in asset and education management, management of international projects and change leadership. In 1997, she was featured in a Computerworld article entitled "Child's Play," highlighting creative problem-solving sessions that she designed and facilitated for the company. Other management and leadership roles she has held have been with AT&T Communications, the Food Marketing Institute, the American Symphony Orchestra League, the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Business and Professional Women's Foundation.

Crowe is a member of the American Society for Training and Development. Dr. Carol Dell'AmoreDr. Carol Dell'Amore

Dr. Carol Dell'Amore, executive director of the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) National Leadership Institute (NLI), has more than 20 years of university-level experience in the field of leadership development, including training, program development, coaching and administration. She is the founding director of NLI, where since 1988 she has established a wide range of programs and services in the areas of leadership development and managerial assessment for organizational leaders. She has developed numerous workshops, seminars and executive coaching programs, as well as a variety of innovative leadership development products, including conferences, videos and, most recently, an online leadership development program.

Dell'Amore has been a trainer and feedback coach in the Center for Creative Leadership's internationally recognized Leadership Development Program (LDP®) and Foundations of Leadership program. She is certified in a number of managerial assessment instruments, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, FIRO-B, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, Campbell Leadership Index, Emotional Competence Inventory, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Benchmarks and other 360-degree assessments developed by the Center for Creative Leadership. She is certified as a trainer in managing workplace conflict through the Mediation Training Institute International.

Dell'Amore has been a speaker or panelist at multiple conferences and symposia on leadership. As a faculty member of the UMUC Graduate School of Management and Technology, Dell'Amore has taught leadership and team effectiveness in the university's Executive MBA program, and is currently providing assessment feedback and coaching to EMBA students. She was named a senior fellow of the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland, College Park, and was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the Eckerd College Center for Conflict Dynamics.

Dell'Amore holds an MS in Adult Education, an MA in Counseling, and a PhD in Counseling and Consultation, from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Lorie FalkDr. Lorie Falk

Dr. Lorie Falk, a psychologist licensed in Maryland, has worked in private practice providing psychological and consulting services for individuals, families, teams and organizations for 13 years. She has conducted coaching, team evaluation and development, peak performance services and consulting. Clientele includes individuals as well as public, private, government and military organizations, among them schools, hospitals, health care organizations and pharmaceutical companies. She has been an adjunct faculty member with the National Leadership Institute since 2002.

Falk has presented research on anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and developmental disabilities. She has participated on company boards and developed, managed and facilitated outdoor leadership development, personal enrichment and adventure-based programs. One foundation of her work involves increasing self-awareness by dissolving personal boundaries and gaining understanding of others toward optimal teamwork, and removing perceived personal limitations to maximize potential, perform optimally and live with happiness and flow. She also is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher.

A licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist, Falk is a member of both the American Psychological Association and the Association for the Advancement of Cognitive and Behavior Therapy. She is certified in Center for Creative Leadership assessments and the Emotional Competence Inventory. She volunteers with the American Red Cross and also works with the Disaster Assessment Team and Disaster Mental Health National Corps.

Falk's educational background includes an BS in Psychology from Elon College, a MA in Psychology from Marymount University, and a Doctorate of Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology.

Lynn Litow FlayhartLynn Litow Flayhart

Lynn Litow Flayhart is an organizational development specialist with 26 years of experience in executive coaching, assessment for selection and development, leadership development, organizational assessment and development, strategic and business planning, facilitation, mediation, training design and implementation, training needs assessment and team building. She has been an adjunct faculty member at the National Leadership Institute since 1997.

Flayhart's consulting career began at Coopers & Lybrand, where she provided organizational assessment and development services to colleges, universities and other national organizations. Since 1988, she has led her own consulting firms. She is currently affiliated with Marshall Goldsmith Partners, LLC.

Flayhart is engaged as an executive coach for senior executives, senior leadership team members, general managers and high-potential individuals for a number of Fortune 500, private-sector clients. She designs and conducts assessment processes and consults on leadership development and succession planning. She holds a BA and MA in Counseling from Pennsylvania State University and an Executive MBA from Loyola College in Maryland.

She is a trained mediator and a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution. In addition, she is certified in a wide range of assessment instruments including: the Center for Creative Leadership 360 degree suite of executive assessments; CPI 260; 16 PF; Hogan Assessments; Myers Briggs Type Indicator; FIRO-B and HBDI.

Dr. Jan GamacheDr. Jan Gamache

Dr. Jan Gamache has more than 20 years of experience in organizational development. During her career she has worked as a consultant, educator and senior manager, and has served in corporate, government and not-for-profit settings. She has been on the faculty of the National Leadership Institute since 2000.

In 1996, Gamache opened a private practice in Alexandria, Virginia, specializing in the development of senior executives and their teams through executive coaching, individual and team assessment, 360-degree feedback, competency modeling and conflict resolution. Representative clients include ExxonMobil, Deloitte & Touche, IBM, American Bankers Association, Booz Allen & Hamilton, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services–Human Resources Service, American Management Systems, Hughes Network Systems, Manor HealthCare Corp., U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Sonoco Products, CGI, Sara Lee, Duke Power, Northern Telecom, Smartronix, First Union, Educational Testing Service, BlackBoard, Spaulding & Slye and Sprint Nextel.

Before opening her practice, Jan served as senior vice president for Drake Beam Morin, then the world's largest career and change management consulting firm. Previously, she had worked as an organizational consultant and trainer in a human resource management consulting company.

Gamache received her higher education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she earned a BA in Juvenile Delinquency and Children's Services, an MEd in Criminal Justice, and an EdD in Organizational Development and Human Relations. Additionally, she has completed study in organizational systems thinking and has received specialized training in experiential group therapy.

Dr. Nur GryskiewiczDr. Nur Gryskiewicz

Dr. Gryskiewicz is a pioneering executive coach, facilitator and leadership development specialist bringing a breadth and depth of diverse business experience combined with an academic background to her international professional practice. She offers 30 years of experience in executive coaching, assessment for development and global management, delivering services worldwide to Fortune 100 companies, government and international agency clients, including the United Nations.

Since 1983, Dr. Gryskiewicz has been adjunct faculty at the Center for Creative Leadership, where she provides feedback, coaching and consultations for the Center's Leadership Development Programs. She is also an executive coach for the World Bank and a member of the Duke Corporate Education Global Learning Resource Network. She is a consultant with the Executive Development Group and a feedback coach for the National Leadership Institute at the University of Maryland. She works with clients from different industries including finance, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, manufacturing, telecommunications, information technology, engineering and healthcare, helping them achieve their vision of success in their current or future roles. She focuses on helping managers and leaders by translating strategic goals to specific tactical steps with an understanding of their day-to-day expectations as business leaders as well as the current leadership challenges and demands they face.

As a facilitator, Dr. Gryskiewicz has worked extensively with management teams and executives in leadership development programs for the National Foundation of Women Business Owners' Leadership Institute, the Cornell University Executive Program, the Duke University Executive Program and the Office of Personnel Management. She has conducted workshops around the globe, including at the United Nations Management Development Center in Rome, the International Leadership Academy of the United Nations University in Amman, Jordan, and management centers in Cambridge, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Egypt and Turkey.

While working in a corporate environment, Dr. Gryskiewicz managed marketing research projects by working closely with product development, advertising agencies and research suppliers. Also as a businessperson, she was the co-founder and director of a successful career development consultancy business.

Dr. Gryskiewicz was an associate professor in the Department of Business Administration in the Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, where she taught in the school's management development, undergraduate and MBA programs from 1987 to 2000. She has been a visiting scholar at the Ivey School of Business of the University of London, Ontario, and at other prestigious universities. She has published numerous articles in scholarly journals. She also co-authored the chapter "Understanding Cultural Differences on the 360-Degree Feedback Process" in the book Maximizing the Value of 360-Degree Feedback, published in 1998 by Jossey-Bass.

She holds a PhD from the University of London in Organizational Psychology. She is a licensed psychologist and certified in numerous assessment instruments. She is the past board president of the Center for Credentialing and Education.

Dr. Zsuzanna GyorkyDr. Zsuzanna Gyorky

Dr. Zsuzanna Gyorky (pronounced "Shooshanna") Gyorky, a consultant for the past 22 years, works with mid- to upper-level managers and executives in the U.S. Government Program on Creative Leadership and through the Center for Creative Leadership. As a faculty member of the National Leadership Institute, Gyorky provides feedback and facilitates group activities. She is certified in a number of assessment and 360-degree instruments, including Benchmarks, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Emotional Competence Inventory, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis and Leadership Circle Profile.

Gyorky is a psychologist and maintains a private practice in Washington, D.C. Since 1988, she has provided psychotherapy to individuals and couples, specializing in stress and motivational concerns, women's issues, adult children of alcoholics, cross-cultural issues and infertility and reproductive concerns, as well as anxiety, depression and work-related problems.

Previously, Gyorky worked at university counseling centers at Iowa State University, College of St. Catherine, University of Tennessee and George Washington University. She held positions as coordinator of training, coordinator of clinical services, staff counselor and adjunct professor. She also directed a nationally accredited internship program.

Gyorky holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Maryland and District of Columbia Psychological Associations. She is also listed in the National Register of Health Providers in Psychology.

Dr. Ellen K. HarveyDr. Ellen K. Harvey

Dr. Ellen Harvey is a licensed psychologist with 20 years experience consulting for public and private sector organizations on the issues of executive coaching, leadership training, organizational development and team building. She has been a faculty member with the National Leadership Institute since 1985 and has held adjunct positions in the University of Maryland's Executive MBA and Executive Master's of Information Technology programs as well as Marymount University's graduate psychology program.

For the last several years, Harvey has provided consulting and coaching services to senior executives in global and domestic financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, Fannie Mae, the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, Capital One and UBS. She has a special focus on performance management, strategic planning, productivity and interpersonal relations.

Prior to consulting, Harvey was senior psychologist and manager of career development and assessment for the U.S. Government Accountability Office in Washington, D.C.

Harvey earned a BS and MA in Counseling from Marshall University in West Virginia and a PhD in Counseling from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She is certified in the following assessment instruments: Benchmarks, California Psychological Inventory, Campbell Leadership Index, Change Style Indicator, Conflict Dynamic Profile, Emotional Competence Inventory, FIRO-B, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Profiler, 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire, Skillscope and Strong Interest Inventory.

Harvey recently served as President of the Board of Trustees of Kingsbury, a premiere non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., dedicated to serving children with learning disabilities. She is also co-founder of the Executive Coaching Roundtable, an organization dedicated to providing state-of-the-art continuing education for senior executive coaches.

Dr. Lynne Hazard Dr. Lynne Hazard

Dr. Lynne Hazard is a licensed psychologist in private practice who provides consultation and training to private- and public-sector organizations and to mental health professionals. Her private practice work is focused on individual psychotherapy as well as coaching to executives and other professionals, with a special interest in entrepreneurs and dual-career couples and their families. She has provided assessment and feedback for the Center for Creative Leadership since 1985 and, since 1989, has been on the adjunct faculty of the National Leadership Institute, where she provides assessment and feedback to managers in the Leadership Development Program and Foundations of Leadership.

In the past, Hazard worked for several government agencies, providing career development counseling, training and employee assistance counseling to managers. She also directed Montgomery College's Career Development Services for companies along the I-270 corridor in Maryland.

Hazard has published articles and chapters on career development issues and dual-career professional couples. She holds national certification in career counseling, addictions counseling and forensic evaluation, and has been trained in hypnotherapy, critical incident stress debriefing and forensic psychology. She is a member of the International Society for the Study of Multiple Personality and Dissociation and treats survivors of trauma. Fairfax County, Virginia, has presented her with a commendation for her work with child and adult sexual assault/abuse victims.

Hazard's educational credentials include a BA in Psychology from Goucher College, an MEd in Counseling Psychology from Boston College, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is licensed as a psychologist in Maryland and as a clinical psychologist in Virginia, and is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Benchmarks, SKILLSCOPE, Prospector, 360 BY DESIGN, Executive Dimensions, KEYS to Creativity, Emotional Competency Inventor and Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, among other instruments.

Dr. Rita M. Hilton Dr. Rita M. Hilton

Dr. Rita M. Hilton maintains a mixed practice of coaching, working with organizations to maximize team effectiveness, teaching (George Washington University), and researching key issues in leadership development (currently on Army Research Institute funded projects). She works with non-profit, for-profit and government clients.

Prior to turning to focus on leadership development, Dr. Hilton spent 15 years working for the World Bank, having been recruited into the organization through the highly competitive Young Professionals program. She worked with a range of counterparts around the world to help clients solve challenges of achieving sustainable development. In addition, Dr. Hilton played a key role in the Bank initiative to better coordinate and collaborate with non-profit organizations in developing countries. She took on increasingly responsible roles working with leadership teams within the World Bank, eventually serving as Adviser to the Vice President for Sustainable Development.

Dr. Hilton received her PhD in Public Administration (specializing in development & institutional economics) from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Prior to earning her doctorate, she received her MA in Ethics from the University of Toronto and her MA in Economics and MPA from Syracuse University. After leaving the Bank to pursue her passionate interest in leadership, she completed her MA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at George Mason University.

Dr. Ellen LentDr. Ellen Lent

Dr. Ellen Lent is a licensed psychologist and workplace consultant with more than 25 years of experience and over 10 years with the National Leadership Institute. She serves in adjunct roles at Johns Hopkins University, American University and the University of Maryland, College Park. With a focus on performance improvement and job satisfaction, she has consulted with executives and public relations and lobbying professionals, managers, engineers, software designers, researchers and attorneys, and has worked extensively with veterans.

Lent's experience includes interviewing and coaching managers and executives in a broad range of industries including high technology, health care, academia and state and federal government. Her areas of expertise include skill identification and development, one-on-one coaching, team skill building, strategic change, 360-degree feedback, performance evaluation and development planning, career change and conflict resolution strategies. She serves on the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award Committee for the Maryland Psychological Association and has served as a task force member on preventing violence in the workplace for the U.S. Public Health Service. She has delivered more than 80 seminars in the United States, Canada and Europe on topics including career planning, management skills, emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication, job satisfaction, conflict resolution and presentation skills, as well as having published articles on career development, executive learning and job satisfaction. In 2004, the Greater Olney Civic Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, honored her as its Citizen of the Year.

Lent received a BA in English at Dunbarton College in Washington, D.C., a MA in Counseling Psychology and Student Personnel at Ohio State University and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University. She is certified to administer the Center for Creative Leadership's suite of leadership instruments, as well as the California Psychological Inventory, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, FIRO-B, Campbell Interest and Skill Survey, Strong Interest Inventory, Emotional Competence Inventory and many others.

Dr. Roland LivingstonDr. Roland Livingston

Dr. Roland Livingston is assistant professor and coordinator of the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Delaware. He is also an organization development consultant. His work at the college prepares students to work with their organizations as they face rapid social, economic and technological change. In addition, he teaches graduate courses in leadership and organizational behavior as an adjunct faculty member at American University and Johns Hopkins University. Since 1998, he has served as a trainer and executive coach for the National Leadership Institute.

Much of Livingston's work focuses on emotional competency and building trust in the workplace. He has worked extensively in leadership and organizational effectiveness, diversity management and team building with such clients as Boeing, JPMorgan, Chase & Co., Reed Business Information and the National Imagery and Mapping Agency. He has provided training and organization development consultation in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.

Livingston earned a BS in History from Delaware State University, a MS in Human Resource Development from American University, and an EdD in Organization Change from Pepperdine University. Peg Long Peg Long

Peg Long has more than 20 years experience in executive coaching, leadership development, team building and organizational consulting. She is president of Long Consulting Associates, Inc., where her clients include Fortune 500 companies, international health organizations, the federal government and not-for-profit organizations. Building on a strong belief in the inherent capabilities of her clients, she works with leaders and teams to create the results they want by recognizing and building on their strengths to develop a new level of thinking and skills to deal with challenges and potential blind spots.

Long has been on the faculty of the National Leadership Institute (NLI) since 1998. She is a feedback specialist with the leadership programs at NLI, CCL and the U.S. Government's Program on Creative Leadership. She regularly provides feedback to executive leaders based on a wide variety of tests, group activities and assessment instruments. She facilitates the Shore Leadership Program on the Eastern Shore of Maryland a program to bring leaders from public and private in the area together to explore possibilities to address issues in a regional and collaborative way. She also is an executive coach with the Power of Self—an innovative leadership program for women executives in Dallas, Texas, and is an adjunct faculty member for Georgetown University's professional development program. She is the past director of the Training Certificate program at Georgetown University.

Long is a Master Certified Coach as well as a licensed counselor. She has completed the New Ventures West Professional Coaching Program, the Newfield Network Graduate Coaching Program and programs in Generative Coaching and Coaching with the Body. She is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Leadership Circle Profile, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Benchmarks, PROFILOR, Emotional Competence Inventory, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis and FIRO-B. She is interested in the profound power of listening deeply and is currently writing a book on developing and using deep listening skills in personal and professional leadership.

Long earned a BA in Psychology from George Washington University, an MS in Counseling from the University of Southern California and additional graduate work at University of Tennessee.

Dr. Noreen A. LyneDr. Noreen A. Lyne

Dr. Noreen Lyne is an executive coach and consultant specializing in leadership development and organizational effectiveness. Since 2001, she has worked with clients from middle management to senior positions as principal of Expanding Dimensions. Her representative clients include: Deloitte Consulting, Genesis Health Ventures, National Security Agency, Pactiv Corporation, Bridgewater, the National Security Agency, the National Institutes of Health and Verizon. Lyne is an adjunct faculty member in graduate leadership programs at Walden University and George Mason University. She has been affiliated with the National Leadership Institute since 1999.

Before starting her coaching practice, Lyne held senior executive positions in higher education; she was vice president and provost emerita of Montgomery College in Maryland. As a college leader, she led the development of new curricula, particularly in the areas of technology and science, spearheaded the building of campus facilities and contributed significantly to organizational transformation at Montgomery College. Her interest in online education led to her role as founding president of MarylandOnline, a consortium of higher education institutions providing distance education programs in Maryland. She served as a member and president of a Chamber of Commerce for eight years and was a founding board member of Leadership Montgomery, an organization that educates future community leaders in public policy issues.

Lyne earned both an MEd in counseling and a PhD in higher education administration and adult education at the University of Maryland, College Park.  She earned a bachelor’s degree at Queens College of the City University of New York. The University of Maryland’s College of Education honored her as an Outstanding Alumna. She is certified in leadership coaching through Georgetown University and has certification in the following instruments: Benchmarks, Executive Dimensions, Prospector, SKILLSCOPE, FIRO-B, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Emotional and Social Competence Inventory and Campbell Leadership Index.

Dr. Geraldine M. LyonsDr. Geraldine "Geri" M. Lyons

Dr. Geri Lyons began her professional career in executive coaching and leadership development in 1987. Since that time, she has been affiliated with the National Leadership Institute (NLI), the Center for Creative Leadership and the training and development offices for various federal agencies within the intelligence community. She joined the NLI staff of adjunct faculty in 1989. As a management consultant to these organizations, Lyons offers assessment, feedback, small group facilitation and coaching to mid- and upper-level managers who attend executive education programs. She supports developmental planning and goal setting to help participants improve their executive competence within the framework of their organizational environments.

From 1979 to 1987, before becoming an executive coach, Lyons was a staff psychologist at George Washington University (GW) Counseling Center. Her duties included teaching, supervision, research and assessment. She also coordinated the career services offered to adults in the university community. During her graduate studies, she was a teaching assistant in the psychology department at GW and a research assistant at a mental health clinic in Georgetown. Other relevant work experience consists of clinical research at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and industrial/organizational research at Merrill Lynch in New York City.

Lyons' undergraduate degree in psychology comes from Fordham University, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She received her PhD in Personality and Experimental Psychopathology from George Washington University. She is a licensed psychologist in Washington, D.C.

Given her primary interest in assessment, Lyons has pursued professional training and development in the area of testing. She is certified to provide feedback on 360-degree instruments, which include Benchmarks, 360 BY DESIGN, Executive Dimensions, Prospector, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, PROFILOR, The Leadership Circle, Management Skills Profile and Emotional Competence Inventory. As a licensed psychologist, she is qualified to interpret a host of self-report personality instruments that form the backbone of leadership development programs.

Dr. Judy MarxDr. Judy Marx

Dr. Judy Marx maintains a private practice in Washington, D.C., where she specializes in individual psychotherapy with adults who are experiencing work and career difficulties, relationship issues, anxiety and depression. She also has expertise in working with adults with attention deficit disorder. She has been affiliated with the National Leadership Institute for more than 20 years as a feedback coach, trainer and executive coach. She is a member of the Ethics Committee of the District of Columbia Psychological Association and an adjunct faculty member of the Counseling Psychology Department at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Previously, Marx was employed at the counseling centers at Georgetown University and Mount Vernon College, and she has provided mental health consultation at a variety of institutions in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. She has taught management training courses to federal agencies, including conflict management, communications skills and leadership development. Her professional research has focused on self-help books, ethics in psychotherapy and on terminating psychotherapy; she has numerous presentations and publications on these topics.

Marx is licensed as a psychologist in the District of Columbia and is certified in Benchmarks, the Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, the Emotional Competence Inventory, SKILLSCOPE and has extensive experience in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, FIRO-B and California Psychological Inventory. Her higher education was attained at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned a BA in Psychology, graduating cum laude, a MA in Counseling Psychology, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology, with a minor concentration in organizational psychology.

Dr. William C. McCarthyDr. William "Bill" C. McCarthy

Dr. Bill McCarthy has been a consultant in leadership development for over 20 years, working with both corporate and governmental organizations. As an adjunct faculty member for the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) National Leadership Institute (NLI), he provides training, feedback and executive coaching. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member for UMUC's Executive MBA program.

In addition to his work with UMUC, Bill provides executive coaching at the Institute for the Study of Public Policy Implementation, Key Executive Leadership Program at American University. This program provides development for governmental leaders aspiring to the Senior Executive Service. Their recent clients are the USDA, OIG, DOI and Dept of Ed.
Recent activities include leadership training for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and senior psychological consulting to Drake Beam Morin for corporate outplacement. While working with the state of Maryland, he provided psychological assessments to persons with disabilities for the Division of Rehabilitation Services. He recently finished a five-year assignment with a transition house for women with substance abuse in Baltimore.

Previously, Bill was a special education classroom teacher, served as a career counselor for the disabled and was involved with the state program administration for special education. He also worked on a program for transitioning military officers from the Pentagon, leadership development for Pfizer and a career transition program for the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Licensed as a psychologist in Maryland, Bill is certified in class A psychological instruments for diagnostic purposes and class B and C psychological instruments for personality and career assessment. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, a MA in Education, with a focus on counseling and guidance, from Loyola College in Maryland and a PhD in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Lanning E. MoldauerDr. Lanning "Lanny" E. Moldauer

Dr. Lanning Moldauer is an independent practitioner who consults with organizations and professionals including other psychologists, psychiatrists, judges, attorneys, rehabilitation counselors and employee assistance plan staff members. Consultations largely concern hiring decisions, career planning, coaching/development issues and attributes of either criminal defendants or civil litigants. Current organizational clients include the World Bank, McKinsey Consulting, NASA, the Department of Labor, the Veterans Administration, various law firms and several national associations and small businesses. His testimony in federal and local courts, and related legal consultations has involved a half-dozen front-page cases.

During a career that has spanned more than 25 years, Moldauer has been associated with the National Leadership Institute (NLI) for half that time, providing individual feedback, coaching training, online course facilitation and statistical analysis of test scores. He also trains graduate students in clinical psychology at George Washington University and teaches in the Executive Masters of Information Technology program at University of Maryland University College.

Moldauer's earlier work experience included similar activities with American Airlines, Ricoh, Coopers & Lybrand, several real estate developers, a bank, a hydroelectric and an environmental engineering firm, manufacturing companies, hospitals, trade associations, executive search firms, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Labor and several police organizations. Through the Center for Creative Leadership and NLI, he has worked with U.S. Navy flag officers, the National Security Agency, Metro, Verizon, Inovant (a part of Visa International), the Fairfax County (Virginia) Board of Education and executives of many other organizations.

Moldauer received a BA in Psychology and a General Honors certificate, now referred to as the Benjamin Franklin Scholars program, from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University. He is certified in Benchmarks, the Campbell Leadership Index, SKILLSCOPE, the Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, the Emotional Competency Inventory, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, 360 BY DESIGN and a wide variety of neuropsychological, cognitive assessment and clinical personality diagnostic instruments.

Dr. Jon Hugh MossDr. Jon Hugh Moss

Dr. Jon Moss has been a Clinical Psychologist in private practice since 1982. His work includes psychotherapy and assessment services to adolescents, adults and families, as well as organizational and staff development services. Additionally he provides specialized psychological services to the Law Enforcement and First Responder (Fire and Emergency Medical Services) community. Dr. Moss has been a professional coach and consultant since 1999, providing executive coaching services to individual and corporate clients, emphasizing the ontological approach to problem solving and learning. He also works with organizational teams and individuals to facilitate communication, self-awareness, achievement of goals and positive adaptation to change. He has been a feedback coach and facilitator with a number of leadership development programs offered by the U.S. intelligence community. Dr. Moss has been with the National Leadership Institute since 2006.

Dr. Moss received a BA in Psychology from McMurray College, and a PhD in Psychology from the University of South Carolina. He has completed Post-Doctoral work in clinical psychology at the University of South Carolina. Additionally he holds a Diplomate of Police Psychology from the Society of Police and Criminal Psychology.

Dr. Moss is licensed to practice clinical psychology in the state of Virginia and has received specialized training in the Newfield Network Coaching for Personal and Professional Mastery. He is certified in a variety of assessment tools, including Benchmarks, The Leadership Circle, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, The Leadership Report, FIRO-B, Change Style Indicator and other personality assessments.

Dr. Regina RomeroDr. Regina Romero

Dr. Regina Romero is a clinical psychologist in an independent executive coaching and leadership development practice. Her focus is on helping individuals and teams maximize their effectiveness by identifying their strengths, challenges and goals, and clarifying a path to optimize their capacity to grow and have an impact. She has extensive exposure to a wide variety of private, public and nonprofit businesses and organizations through her practice as well as through her work with the National Leadership Institute, with which she has been associated since 1989.

Romero has 20 years of experience coaching executives involved in leadership development processes. A sampling of her recent clients includes Lockheed Martin, AARP, MedImmune, the National Institutes of Health, the Bureau of Primary Health Care and the Noyce Leadership Institute. She has also participated in the design and implementation of many leadership development programs for organizations as diverse as PHrMA, the American Red Cross, the Brookings Institution Truman Scholars Program, Towson University and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Romero's educational credentials include a BS in Psychology from Howard University, an MPhil from George Washington University and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University. She is a member of the American Psychological Association Society of Consulting Psychologists and the Executive Coaching Roundtable. She is licensed in Washington, D.C. Dr. Georgia RoyaltyDr. Georgia Royalty

Dr. Georgia Royalty is a licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst with more than 25 years of clinical experience. She maintains a practice in psychotherapy, executive coaching, career counseling, clinical supervision and psychoanalysis in Baltimore and Ellicott City, Maryland. She is also an adjunct faculty member for the University of Maryland, College Park psychology department and the Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis. She has been a member of the National Leadership Institute faculty as a trainer, assessor and feedback coach for more than 20 years.

At the outset of her career, Royalty was the director of counseling and career services at McDaniels (formerly Western Maryland) College. Later, as staff psychologist and director of training at the George Washington University Counseling Center, she developed a doctoral internship training program for psychologists. She then moved to the Counseling Center at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she served as training director for the accredited doctoral internship in psychology.

Royalty is certified to interpret the following instruments: 360 BY DESIGN, Prospector, Benchmarks, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator , FIRO–B, Emotional Competence Inventory, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, California Psychological Inventory, Strong Interest Inventory, Management Skills Profile and Executive Dimensions. Dr. Robert SeidelDr. Robert Seidel

Dr. Robert Seidel has maintained a private psychology practice in Virginia since 1980. He also has a consulting organization called Strategies for Change, which provides seminars, workshops and consultation to education and industry. Through this organization, he facilitates the process of change in individuals and organizations and provides quality life coaching for attorneys and executives. Seidel joined the National Leadership Institute in 2000.

Over a period of about 38 years, Seidel gained expertise in research, development, teaching and management in the areas of experimental design, the use of technology in instruction, technology transfer, distance learning and evaluation. He was vice president of a not-for-profit company where he was responsible for policy, emphasizing program development for instructional technology. He gives talks nationally and internationally, and has published numerous articles and six books in these areas. In 2005, he published a book to aid training developers and educators in course development, relating learning principles to instructional strategies. He now has a second book out, a companion workbook, published as Part II with a reprinting of the original book, which appeared at the end of 2007.

Recently, Seidel helped a Texas consortium of school districts successfully integrate computer technology into their school system. For many years he has advised NATO on implementation of advanced technologies and he served as U.S. representative and chairman of the NATO Research Study Group from 1987 to 1999. He maintains continuing tenure as the first research chief emeritus at the Army Research Institute. He has also taught full-time at Denison University and part-time at Trinity College in Connecticut, George Washington University and the University of Maryland, College Park.

Seidel is licensed as a clinical psychologist in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He is certified on the various 360 instruments offered by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL). His educational credentials include a BS in Psychology from Rutgers University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Society of Sigma Xi, earning the MA and PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University through the National Institutes of Mental Health.

Dr. Richard TanenbaumDr. Richard Tanenbaum

Dr. Richard Tanenbaum has been with the National Leadership Institute since 1999. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Mary Washington College and staff psychologist at the National Center for the Treatment of Depression, Anxiety and Phobias.

In a collaborative effort between the departments of medical/clinical psychology and family medicine at the Uniformed Services University (USU), Tanenbaum is the executive director and principal investigator for the USU Center for Health Disparities Research and Education, a project funded by the National Institutes of Health to reduce health disparities in minority and undeserved populations. He specializes in using innovative methods to teach cultural competency, interpersonal skills, leadership and communication effectiveness to medical, nursing and psychology students and the full spectrum of health professionals.

Tanenbaum maintains a consulting practice, where he provides executive coaching, training and organization development services to private and public-sector organizations. He delivers a broad range of seminars and workshops, develops performance appraisal and outcome measures and has expertise in leadership development and succession planning initiatives, conflict resolution and change management. Leveraging his training in both psychology and the dramatic arts, Tanenbaum uses a wide variety of experiential and psychodramatic methods when delivering workshops and seminars designed to promote behavior change.

Tanenbaum was educated at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his BA in Psychology and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on child and organizational/industrial psychology, at Virginia Commonwealth University.

A licensed psychologist in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland, Dr. Tanenbaum is licensed to administer a wide spectrum of psychologically-oriented assessment instruments. In addition, he has specialty training in, and is certified to administer, the following instruments: Benchmarks, California Psychological Inventory, Campbell Leadership Index, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Emotional Competency Inventory, FIRO-B, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, MBTI, Skillscope and Profilor.

Dr. Stephen ZaccaroDr. Stephen Zaccaro

Dr. Stephen Zaccaro is a professor of psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He has been studying, teaching and consulting about teams and leadership for more than 25 years. He has been associated with National Leadership Institute since 2005.

Previously, Zaccaro served on the faculty of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and of the College of the Holy Cross. He has written over 100 articles, book chapters, and technical reports on group dynamics, team performance, leadership and work attitudes. He also has written a book, titled The Nature of Executive Leadership: A Conceptual and Empirical Analysis of Success, and coedited three other books, Occupational Stress and Organizational Effectiveness, The Nature of Organizational Leadership: Understanding the Performance Imperatives Confronting Today's Leaders, and Leader Development for Transforming Organizations. He coedited a special issue for Group and Organization Management on the interface between leadership and team dynamics and special issues for Leadership Quarterly on individual differences and leadership.

Zaccaro has directed funded research projects in the areas of team performance, shared mental models, leader-team interfaces, leadership training and development, leader adaptability and executive leadership. He has consulted for projects on developing leader assessment tools, constructing leadership training systems and on measuring performance in human-robot team systems.

Zaccaro's PhD in Social Psychology was earned at the University of Connecticut.
