Evaluation Research and Best Practices
The Office of Evaluation and Assessment (OEA) is committed to the study of instructional practices and student success factors in the Web-based environment. Our work in this area entails:
- Administering and coordinating the course evaluation system
- Conducting research on effective online teaching and learning practices, preferences and satisfaction of online faculty and students, and pedagogical approaches to the improvement of student retention and learning
- Supporting faculty development through the dissemination and sponsorship of research, relevant to the needs and interest of faculty
- Providing consultative services to UMUC units and departments, on research methodology, data collection, and statistical analyses
- Providing small grant opportunities for UMUC faculty and staff
- Disseminating research findings to the broader higher education community
