Policy 170.4 - Degree Completion
Requirements for the Graduate School
I. Introduction
-
This Policy is in accordance with the Board of Regents Policy III-7.00 Policy on Degree and Curricular Requirements, approved on April 26, 1990, and outlines the degree-completion requirements for the Graduate School.
-
In
order to be approved for graduation, students
must have resolved any outstanding charges
of fees or of misconduct and must have complied
with the terms of any sanctions. The award
of degrees and certificates is conditional
upon satisfactory completion of all program
requirements and compliance with all UMUC policies.
- This policy is effective as of the fall 2005 term.
II. Graduation
Requirements
-
To
graduate with a master’s degree or
Doctoral degree from the Graduate School,
students must submit proof of the following:

Successful completion of the required number of semester hours and other requirements as prescribed by the specific program curriculum.

A
combined 3.0 GPA in all Graduate School
courses (see Policy
210.18).
Master’s students
may not apply
a grade of
F toward degree
requirements.
Doctoral students
may not apply
a grade of
C or lower
toward degree
requirements.

- Completion of all coursework within the time
frame required by the specific program.
