Policy 420.40 - Graduate Assistants

SUBJECT: Graduate Assistants

Graduate Assistants are considered to be students for payroll purposes.

Full-time Graduate Assistants are required to work 20 hours a week. Half-time Graduate Assistants are required to work 10 hours a week.

Twelve month Graduate Assistants earn 44 hours per year of annual leave.Ten month Graduate Assistants do not earn annual leave.

Annual leave may not be accrued from one year to the next by Graduate Assistants, and they may not take long periods of time off during the academic year.

Graduate Assistants may not join a retirement system and do not earn sick leave.
