William Beck, PhD

William Beck serves as vice president and director of UMUC Asia. He has been with the university since 1997.

Dr. Beck is both well-known and well-respected in the military community. As an Air Force officer with a PhD in economics from the University of Colorado, Dr. Beck began his academic career in 1987 at the United States Air Force Academy, where he served as a professor until 1994. After a short stint in the private sector as a financial consultant, Dr. Beck returned to his first love—teaching—in 1997, when he joined the UMUC faculty as a collegiate professor. He taught in both Asia and Europe until this year, when he became UMUC Asia’s area director for Okinawa, Guam, and Micronesia.
