Management Theory PracticeThe Development of Management Theory & Practice in the United States

This book, also co-edited by Professors Mann and Götz and co-sponsored by the Institute and DaimlerChrysler, provides an overview of how U.S. management theory and practice was formed and has evolved over the past 50 years. Each of the nine chapters focuses on a different aspect of management, (e.g., leadership, strategy, finance, marketing, workplace, diversity, operations, ethics), while the Overview traces several themes in American culture that have shaped the character of American management theory and practice. The book is used extensively in the UMUC Master of Science of Management (MSM) degree program framework for discussing and appreciating the distinctive nature of American management.
