12-Week Special Semester — Submitting Your Final Exams
Exams must be submitted by October 5, 2007.
Courses with common exams: Whenever possible, Exams and Testing will utilize the fall common exam provided for the regular semester for the fall special session. If your course has a common final exam you do not have to provide an exam BUT you must provide the mailing address where all completed exams should be sent by emailing exams@umuc.edu and cc’ing cdwilliams@umuc.edu. Identify the course and section number when providing your mailing address.
Courses with CBT versions: In addition, any common exams that are offered CBT during the regular semester will also be available CBT to special session students.
Note: you must still provide your mailing address by emailing exams@umuc.edu and cc’ing cdwilliams@umuc.edu.
Courses with non-common (unique) exams: Faculty members teaching courses without a common exam must provide a final exam to Exams and Testing via email by Monday, October 8, 2007. Please provide an A and B version of your final exam to Exams and Testing via email no later than Monday, October 8, 2007. Exams for the special fall session ONLY should be emailed to exams@umuc.edu and cc’d to cdwilliams@umuc.edu.
In the email message body please tell us:
- Course and Section number
- Are calculators permitted?
- Should an UMUC exam booklet be provided?
- Is a Scantron needed?
- Should students answer directly on the printed exam?
- What mailing address should completed exams be mailed to?
- Attach the exams to your email message
Important Tips
- Although there is not a file size limit, we have noticed that the system tends to have problems with attachments more than 2 MB in size. Please take note of the size of your files. Please note that zipping your files will NOT WORK.
- File names should be short (e.g., ACCT220 6980A). Long file names are unnecessary since they get standardized.
- Exams must be attached as Word (DOC), PDF, RTF or HTML files only.
- You must submit two versions of each exam. The two versions will be distributed at random to the proctors worldwide.
- No more than 50 percent of the exam may be multiple choice or true/false. The remainder may be made up of questions such as essay, short answer, definitions, and/or problems requiring the student to provide the steps to the solution as well as the final answer.
- All exams should be reviewed before being submitted for content, correct headings including semester and section number, and the numbering of pages and questions.
- All exams will be administered as closed book/notes exams.
- Computers, PDA's, cell phones, and pagers are not permitted in any testing facility. Calculators are allowed if indicated on the exam cover sheet. Do not instruct your students to bring any other electronic devices into a final exam session. Proctors will take all electronic devices from students and hold them until the exam is completed.
- The time allotted for all distance education final exams is three hours.
- Be aware that students may only submit their final exam packet to proctors at the testing center. Proctors and exam administrators will not accept any other coursework. In addition, students are not allowed to attach pre-prepared responses to their exam packet for submission.
Remember that exams must be submitted between Monday, September 24 and Monday, October 5.
