Who is eligible
for EXCEL?
To participate in EXCEL and register for EXCL 301,
students must :
- Be currently enrolled and in good academic standing.*
- Be pursuing an undergraduate degree – EXCEL is
not available at the graduate level.
- Have an official evaluation that is no more than
one year old.
- Show evidence of a college-level writing course
or satisfactory score on the UMUC writing placement.
(Completion of ENGL 101 is strongly suggested.)
- Apply for the EXCEL program and submit a copy of your current resume to priorlearning@umuc.edu
* EXCEL is open only to enrolled UMUC students
who have a GPA of 2.0 or above in their completed UMUC
classes. It should not be your first class at UMUC. It is also strongly suggested that students satisfactorily
complete EDCP 100 and LIBS 150.
What Learning Is Eligible
For Credit Through EXCEL?
To receive credit through portfolio evaluation,
learning must
- Not duplicate learning for which credit has already
been received.
- Be college-level.
- Have a theoretical basis as well as practical application.
