Interdisciplinary Studies in Management Specialization Description
The Interdisciplinary Studies in Management specialization is intended for students who want a broad exposure to major areas of study that are essential for managers in every organization.
Career Path
The MSM program prepares graduates for a number of entry-, mid-, and high- level positions, as determined by a student’s work experience.
Depending on a student’s background and an employer’s criteria, graduates of the Interdisciplinary Studies in Management specialization may qualify for these positions:
The Interdisciplinary Studies in Management specialization is designed for students who want to pursue an advanced degree, but in a generalist format.
The Interdisciplinary Studies in Management specialization allows students to take at least one course in each of the following fields:
- International
- Human Resources
- Technology and Management Information Systems
- Legal Issues
- Marketing.
Included in this specialization are courses that introduce students to the global workforce, issues affecting Human Resources, nonprofit management, public relations, and other areas of possible interest. The Interdisciplinary Studies in Management specialization recognizes that while some career paths require a specified set of courses, many employment opportunities look for someone with an advanced degree who also has an understanding of a wide range of topics.

Clustered Course Option
MGMT 630 Organizational Theory and Behavior in a Global Environment (6) is a six-credit course. Students who receive credit for MGMT 630 may not receive credit for MGMT 610 or MGMT 615.
Core Rules
- Students must complete 24 credits, including other core requirements, before enrolling in MGMT 670.
- MGMT 640 and MGMT 650 should not be completed simultaneously.
