Bobby Hughes — 2011 Staff Advisory Council Representative

Department: Maryland Operations
Title: Coordinator, Marine Corps Base Quantico

I have a great deal of experience serving on various committees within higher education. My experience includes having served as the chair of the Career Employees Council; Chapter President of the Florida Association of Community Colleges for my college; serving on the Board of Directors at the state level for FACC (Florida Association of Community Colleges); and as Chair of the Career and Professional Employee Commission of the FACC at the state level. At the local level, I have served on the Code of Ethics Action Team; PDC Advisory Committee; College Benefits Committee; IT Technology Standards Group; and Appeals Committee for Course Substitutions and CLAS waivers. I was also the Vice-Chair for the college's Rotaract Club. I believe my experience and passion for higher education would make me a valuable asset for any university committee.

I believe I would make a great addition to the Adelphi Staff Advisory Council. Besides my years of experience in councils in my previous job, I have a great love of education and a passion for making where I work a better place for all. As Chair for the Career Employees Council I worked tirelessly to improve working conditions for all employees. Through my other committee assignments I have been challenged to improve myself and to bring about changes for the benefit of others. Being able to make a difference in the lives of others is what drives me as an education professional, and being active within the university through committees is a large part of how I have been able to do so. I ask that you consider me to be a part of the Adelphi Staff Advisory Council, as I will bring the same determination and effort to that position.
