Tysha Tolefree — 2008 Asia Staff
Advisory Council Representative
Department: Business Office
Title: SAR Supervisor
My family and I have just recently relocated to Yokota about a month ago. I am excited and quite pleased with my current position in the business office as an accountant.
Baltimore, Maryland, is my home, despite having lived in many places in the States (my father is a USMC retiree). I am also a prior active-duty member, having served in the Air Force for seven years.
I graduated from Saint Leo University, with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and later earned a master's degree in Business from Troy State University.
I was an auditor for the Virginia Department of Taxation and a phlebotomist at a local hospital prior to relocating to Japan.
I enjoy public speaking, being involved in the community, just about anything artistic (music, modeling, galleries, plays, etc.), basketball, reading, and spending time with my family.
I would like to serve on the Asia Staff Advisory Council for several reasons.
I take pride in making positive contributions wherever and whenever I can. As an employee, it is important to me that I stay abreast of issues, policies, and basic information in general that may have an impact on my work-life and in those around me.
Having done some research on the purpose of having an "Asia Staff Advisory Council," I think that this council is or could be a perfect forum to address a variety of subjects ranging from concerns, work-life issues, community events, seminars, etc.
As a "new" employee, this would also be an excellent opportunity for me to meet and work with other co-workers outside of the business office as well.
In any event, I look forward to contributing and am happy to be here at UMUC-Asia.
