About Us
Provides a conduit for exchanging state of the art teaching and learning environments with information assurance and security content. Its primary goal is to teach information technology professionals at the graduate and undergraduate levels using asynchronous distance learning media.

Supports curriculum development, information architecture, faculty training and development, and laboratory development and support at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Develops advanced teaching tools such as remote access laboratories, network testbeds, and emerging technologies and methods of providing asynchronous online learning globally.

Supports students on active duty in the U.S. military, employed by local, state, and federal governments, or employed by industry through the academic programs of University of Maryland University College (UMUC).

Actively pursues cooperative relations with government and industry to provide program support and support their ongoing information operations.

Coordinates UMUC participation with other IAE/CAEs to support the State of Maryland and its units of local government to meet their information assurance and security needs.

Identifies program needs for curriculum growth.

Partners with industry and government to develop new programs and deliveries.
- Hosts conferences, colloquia, workshops, and Webcasts on information assurance and security topics.
Objective
Develop online capability to support undergraduate and graduate students worldwide including course delivery, remote access laboratory support, and trained faculty.
Organization
SSL is administered by University of Maryland University College (UMUC), which has been recognized as an Information Assurance Education Center of Academic Excellence (IAE/CAE) by the National Security Agency.
