Financial Aid
Important Message: Sequestration and Potential Impacts on Financial Aid
A series of mandatory across-the-board federal budget cuts known as "sequestration" went into effect on March 1. These cuts impact virtually all federal government programs, including federal student financial aid.
While UMUC does not anticipate dramatic cuts in any one program, financial aid you receive for the 2013-14 academic year may be subject to change. Specifically, Direct Loan origination fees could change, causing a slight reduction in your disbursed loan amount. The change in origination fees will not change your loan eligibility or the maximum you may borrow. The Department of Education will notify you if you are affected, and updates will be posted to MyUMUC.
When applying for financial aid, please note that the 2012-13 FAFSA is for the Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 terms. The 2013-14 FAFSA is for the Fall 2013, Spring 2014 and Summer 2014 terms. The FAFSA form is available online at www.fafsa.gov.
