UMUC Undergraduate/Graduate Scholarships

Most of the scholarships listed below are renewable.  Renewable scholarships are those that allow recipients to remain eligible for aid under the same program for more than one year. To be considered for renewal, you must reapply each year. Renewal awards are not guaranteed. You may receive one UMUC scholarship or grant award per academic year.

Note: Unless otherwise indicated, UMUC undergraduate scholarships require a minimum GPA of 2.5 and completion of 15 undergraduate credits at UMUC and UMUC graduate  scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.0 and completion of 9 graduate credits at UMUC.

 

Albert L. Emmel Memorial Scholarship

  • To provide financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need

Alumni and Friends Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrated financial need

Alumni Association Scholarship

  • Completion of 15 credits of coursework
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Enrolled for at least 6 credits during the award period
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Preference given to underserved populations and single parents

Annual Fund Scholarship

  • To provide financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need

Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Scholarship

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Member of an underserved population
  • No scholarship application is needed

Donna H. Cunninghame Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • Awards are offered to provide support to single parents

Dr. Evelyn J. Bata Scholarship for Educational Excellence

  • Provides scholarship support to students who are enrolled at UMUC Stateside
  • Demonstrated financial need

Excellence in Technology–Shady Grove Scholarship

  • Completion of 6 undergraduate or graduate credits at UMUC
  • Resident of Montgomery County
  • Must be enrolled in an on-site course at Shady Grove during term scholarship awarded

Faculty/Staff Campaign Scholarship Fund

  • To provide financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits during the award period

Lyn and Barry Chasen Scholarship

  • Completion of 60 credits toward bachelor’s degree (for undergraduate applicants)
  • Enrollment for 6 credits during the award period
  • Demonstrated financial need

Marriott Foundation Scholarship

  • Completion of 30 credits at UMUC for undergraduate students
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC for undergraduate students and a minimum GPA of 3.3 for graduate  students
  • Enrolled in information technology or computer science programs in either the undergraduate or graduate school at UMUC

MBE Scholarship Fund

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Preference given to students employed by a Minority Business Enterprise

NJVC Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Enrollment for a least 6 credits during the award period
  • Majoring in cyber security academic program at the Bachelor's or Master's degree level.

Peck Family Scholarship

  • Female students with children
  • Demonstrated financial need

PEPCO Scholarship Fund

  • To provide general scholarship support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need

Ray Ehrensberger Scholarship

  • Award provides financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Preference given to students pursuing foreign area studies or international relations

Shirley Mercia Memorial Scholarship Fund

  • Award provides financial support to UMUC students
  • Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Demonstrated financial need

Sorrell Ross Bollet Scholarship Fund

  • To provide financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need

St. Clair and Maria Thomas Scholarship

  • Preference given to students of German origin whose studies include American History
  • Demonstrated financial need

The J.F. Durkee Memorial Scholarship

  • Female students seeking degrees in either undergraduate technical management or graduate telecommunications
  • Demonstrated financial need

The James O’ Donnell Information Technology Scholarship Fund

  • Awards are offered to provide financial support to graduate, undergraduate and certificate program students that are in the Information Technology (IT) related fields, including Project Management
  • Must maintain an average GPA of a 2.5 or higher
  • Demonstrated financial need

The Millennial Scholarship Endowed Fund

  • To provide financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need

The Minor-Montgomery Scholarship Fund

  • Awards are offered to support students at UMUC
  • Demonstrated financial need

The University College Endowment Fund

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Minimum GPA of 3.75

The University of Maryland University College Endowed Anniversary Scholarship Fund

  • Awards are offered to UMUC students stateside and overseas
  • Minimum GPA of a 2.25 for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduate
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Preference giving to students studying online

UMUC President’s Scholarship

  • Minimum GPA of 3.75
  • No scholarship application is needed

Verizon Scholarship for Cybersecurity Students

  • To provide financial support to students studying in the field of Cybersecurity
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Scholarship award is $500.00 per semester, and cannot exceed $1,000.00 per academic year

Westates Holdings, LLC Endowed Scholarship Fund

  • To provide financial support to UMUC students
  • Demonstrated financial need

In addition to the aforementioned scholarships, UMUC offers a number of President's Grants through a need-based grant program that provides up to $1,200 per year for eligible undergraduate and graduated students. 2012-13 Funds Have Been Awarded

UMUC has awarded all allotted funding for the 2012-13 academic year. Scholarship applications are no longer being accepted. If additional funds become available, applications will be evaluated in the order in which they were received.
