Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship Program
The Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship program is designed to provide tuition and fee coverage to UMUC's graduate students that are enrolled in a cybersecurity graduate program. Beginning Fall 2011, scholarship recipients may receive up to $3,000 per academic year (fall, spring, and summer).
What are the Eligibility Requirements?
- New graduate students must be admitted to the Cybersecurity degree program at UMUC, and must maintain a 3.2 GPA for renewal.
- Applicants cannot receive tuition remission from the University System of Maryland.
Please note: If you are receiving 100 percent employer tuition assistance or are a Golden ID student, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
What Is the Application Deadline?
Applications will be accepted as long as funds remain available.
How Do I Apply?
You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the UMUC Scholarship Application. Please allow three to five business days for your FAFSA information to be received by UMUC. When completing your FAFSA, be sure to include UMUC's school code: 011644.
After your FAFSA information is received by UMUC, you may then submit the UMUC Scholarship Application.
Beginning fall 2012, students who apply for financial aid (via the submission of a 2012-2013 FAFSA) will be pre-screened for scholarship eligibility. Students who have met UMUC's established scholarship criteria will be notified via their "To Do List" in the MyUMUC Student Portal of their eligibility to apply for a UMUC scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.
If you are notified that you are eligible to apply for a scholarship, we encourage you to complete and submit your application as soon as possible. Scholarships are awarded for the academic year on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligibility does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship.
Please note: Students who complete the Scholarship Application will be considered for all scholarships available through UMUC's Financial Aid Office. Only those students who are enrolled in the MS in Cybersecurity or MS in Cybersecurity Policy programs AND who have a valid 2012-2013 FAFSA application on file will be considered for the Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship. Dual degree students will not be considered for this award.
When am I Notified of the Scholarship Award Decision?
Scholarship applicants will be notified of the award decision via e-mail before the start of the fall semester.
Is the Scholarship Renewable?
Yes, recipients may renew their awards for one year. The scholarship is renewed if the scholarship guidelines and criteria are met, (maintain a 3.2 GPA, and enroll in at least 6 credit hours each semester). The recipient must also complete the FAFSA and the UMUC Scholarship Application each academic year for consideration.
