Out-of-State Community College Transfer Scholarship
UMUC offers transfer scholarships to outstanding graduates of participating out of state community and technical colleges. Recipients may be awarded $3,300/year for full-time study or $1,650/year for part-time study.

What Are the Application Criteria?

An associate's degree earned by the beginning of the semester you wish to begin at UMUC.

Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA from one of the participating community colleges.

Submission of the UMUC online admission application and scholarship application.

Applicants cannot receive full tuition remission from the University System of Maryland or another agency.

Alliance students who participated in dual enrollment before earning their associate's degree are still eligible for the Out-of-State Community College Transfer Scholarship.

Please note, if you are receiving 100 percent employer tuition assistance or a Golden ID student, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.

Applicants must be pursuing a first bachelor's degree.

Applications for the upcoming semester will be accepted as long as funds remain available.
How Do I Apply?

Complete online admission application through MyUMUC.

Complete the CC Transfer Scholarship Application.

Send all official transcripts from previous colleges attended. Official transcripts are sealed transcripts sent by the institution. Transcripts from the community college should indicate that the associate's degree has been earned with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Without proof of associate's degree attainment, scholarships cannot be awarded.

A complete packet includes the Community College Transfer Scholarship application and official copies of transcript from previous colleges attended.

Incomplete applications will not be processed.
When Am I Notified of the Scholarship Award Decision?
Scholarship applicants will be notified of the award decision via e-mail before the start of the semester for which they have applied.
Please note: Half of the award will post to the student's account 10 days prior to the start of the last registered class for the fall semester. The remaining half will be posted to the students' account 10 days prior to the spring semester. Students registered for Term II or mid-fall/spring classes will have their awards posted 10 days before the start of class.
Is the Scholarship Renewable?
Yes. Full-time recipients may renew their awards for one year and part-time recipients may renew their awards for three years. The scholarship is automatically renewed if the scholarship guidelines and criteria are met.

Maintain 3.0 GPA

Full-time recipients must enroll in at least 12 UMUC credit hours each fall and spring semesters and earn at least 30 credit hours per academic year.

Part-time recipients must enroll in at least 6 UMUC credit hours each fall and spring semesters and earn at least 15 credit hours per academic year.

Awards will post to a student's account 10 days before the start of the last registered class for the semester.

Students do NOT need to submit a scholarship application for renewal.
