Candice Isaac – 2013 Student Advisory Council Representative, Stateside
Candice is originally from Trinidad and Tobago and currently resides in Maryland, where she has lived for the past eight years. She has a strong administrative background in the hospitality, healthcare, and government contracting fields. Candice currently works full-time as an administrative assistant at an international trade organization in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
Working full-time and going to school part-time is nothing new to Candice, who completed her AAS in Paralegal Studies by attending evening classes at Montgomery College. It was no surprise that University of Maryland University College (UMUC) would be next in line to accommodate her schedule. Candice joined UMUC in fall 2011 to pursue a degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Management. She plans to enroll in law school after she completes her undergraduate degree.
Candice enjoys learning about different cultures, writing, playing tennis, event planning, and exploring Washington, D.C. She also takes advantage of opportunities for volunteering. In addition to being a member of the UMUC Student Advisory Council (STAC), Candice also serves as director of distance learning and membership for the UMUC student chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management. In her community, she serves on the board of directors for her condominium, which oversees budgetary, operational, and administrative issues.
As a member of the UMUC STAC, Candice looks forward to engaging the student body and locating the resources necessary to improve students’ time at UMUC.
