David Anderson – 2013-14 Student Advisory Council Representative, Stateside
David Anderson was born in Alexandria, Virginia, but has spent most of his life as a resident of Maryland. He is pleased to have been raised in a diverse and ever-changing political environment. Given so many unique opportunities, he has explored a variety of career paths, which have allowed him to see the world through differing views and ideologies.
Anderson currently lives in Frederick, Maryland, within earshot of "Reveille" and "Taps" from his local community base, USAG Fort Detrick. After completing two years at Frederick Community College (FCC), and receiving his Associate of Arts in International Business, Anderson transferred to University of Maryland University College. Anderson is working toward his bachelor's degree in Global Business and Public Policy.
Past work responsibilities have allowed Anderson to develop a wide range of skills. He has worked as a thoroughbred hot-walker at Maryland racetracks, a painter, a historic homes preservationist, a forensic accountant, and a music producer. Each opportunity allowed for the fulfillment of personal goals and participation in team challenges. Anderson is now working at FCC as the staff carpenter while he continues his education.

- Serving as UMUC Student Advisory Council Chair for 2014
- Graduating from FCC with high honors while working full-time
- Being elected president of FCC's Global Business Simulation
- Serving as a representative on the Maryland Higher Education Student Advisory Council
Anderson's future goals, through education, are to participate in policy crafting in hopes of facilitating positive changes in our global community. He is dedicated to bringing his experiences as a non-traditional student to the UMUC student body and assisting others in achieving their goals.
