Harvey Munoz – 2012-14 Student Advisory Council Representative, Europe
Technical Sergeant Harvey Munoz was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1997 as a communication computer system operator/cyber systems operator. He has served in countries overseas including Germany, Turkey, Italy, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arabic Emirates.
Munoz is currently working as a core section technical specialist in the NATO Communications and Information Agency in Izmir, Turkey. He supervises information equipment and communications in support of NATO Allied Land Command forces' missions and provides a bridge of communications for NATO headquarters in Belgium.
Munoz received an associate's degree in Computer Information Management from the Community College of the Air Force in 2003 and is certified by USAF Customer Service College. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Studies with a minor in Business Administration.
Munoz is married and has a son. He has been actively involved in community services for many years, having served in the following capacities:
- Volunteer, United Way, 1998
- Volunteer of the Year, American Red Cross, 2002–2003
- Vice president, 606th ACS Booster Club, 2010–2011
- Vice president, Airmen Against Drunk Driving, 2012
For his work in initiating the Drunk Driving Prevention Campaign, Munoz was awarded the Commander's Letter of Appreciation and was interviewed by Armed Forces Network News (TV and Radio) in 2012.
Munoz's passion to help the military and local communities contributed to his selection as a member of the University of Maryland University College Student Advisory Council and a member of the UMUC Library Advisory Committee.
