Harvey Munoz – 2012-13 Student Advisory Council Representative, Europe
Harvey Munoz was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1997 as a Communication Computer System Operator/Cyber Systems Operator. He has served overseas, including in Germany, Turkey, Italy, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arabic Emirates.
Technical Sergeant (TSgt) Munoz is currently the Team Lead of Theater Deployable Communications, 606th Air Control Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. He supervised a data communications team responsible for providing initial and sustainable communications for air control operations in remote locations for U.S. armed forces and NATO force structure. TSgt Munoz achieved an associate’s degree in computer information management from the Community College of the Air Force in 2003 and is certified by USAF Customer Service College. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Studies with a minor in Business Administration.
Harvey and his wife, Jennifer, have a son, Harvey Joel. Harvey has been actively involved in community services for many years, having served in the following capacities:
- United Way, Volunteer, 1998
- American Red Cross, Volunteer of the Year, 2002–2003
- 606th ACS Booster Club Vice President, 2010–2011
- Airmen Against Drunk Driving Vice President, Drunk Driving Prevention Campaign initiator, awarded commander’s Letter of Appreciation/interviewed by Armed Forces Network News (TV and Radio), 2012–present.
Harvey’s passion to help the military and local communities contributed to his selection as a member of the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Student Advisory Council and a member of the UMUC Library Advisory Committee.
