Karl Baker – 2013 Student Advisory Council Representative, Asia

Biography

KarlBaker150x200Karl Baker was born and raised in the Midwest. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Kellogg Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University.  

Earning a bachelor’s degree provided career opportunities and eventually inspired Karl to open his own business. While working two jobs and endeavoring to launch his own American dream, Karl learned through responsive clients, community organizations, and various associations that open communication, creative competition, and intelligent participation is collectively beneficial.  

Today, Karl is a U.S. Navy sailor stationed in Japan. His messages of perseverance and dedication are amplified as he pursues a second bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland University College (UMUC), in the field of political science. 

Karl was very proud to be elected to the UMUC Student Advisory Council. He believes that the attributes and demeanor embodied by him and many students are essential for creating a skilled graduating class from UMUC.
