Raymond Jenkins – 2012-13 Student Advisory Council Representative, Europe
Raymond Jenkins was born in Houston, Texas, and spent his early years in Crosby, Texas. As a teen, he moved with his mother to Germany, where he attended the Hauptschule for two years. Raymond continues to reside in Germany and currently works as a recreational assistant for a bowling facility in Schweinfurt in addition to working as a military civilian employee. Although he started his academic career at University of Maryland University College (UMUC) as a psychology major, he recognized a desperate need for security in information technology fields and switched his academic focus. Raymond is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity.
In 2012 Raymond was inducted into the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines—Upsilon Pi Epsilon, UMUC Chapter. Raymond is in his final year of academic coursework and is pursuing the following industry certifications:
- Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH)
In addition to traveling internationally, Raymond mastered fluency in the German language and submerged himself in various cultural events, including playing soccer for a German team.
Raymond is fully committed to his role as a volunteer leader at UMUC. He believes the university provides programs that help students achieve their academic and career goals.
