Wakana Takahashi – 2013-14 Student Advisory Council Representative, Asia

Biography

Wakana TakahashiWakana Takahashi was born and raised in Japan. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington, in 2010. Takahashi learned about University of Maryland University College in 2011 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration.

Having earned a spot on the dean's list, Takahashi has proven her academic capabilities. She has also been inducted into the Tau chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society.

Takahashi has a rich history of volunteerism and has enjoyed helping others and serving in all the communities in which she has lived. She is proud of the following activities:

  • Volunteered with Japanese Red Cross, 2012–2013
  • Served as Atsugi's Student Ambassador, 2012
  • Volunteered at an elementary school, 2010
  • Completed an Accounting Foundations Certificate

Takahashi is grateful that the global mission of UMUC has afforded her the opportunity to continue her American educational journey in Japan. She believes that being a part of the UMUC Student Advisory Council is the best way to express her gratitude and the best place to use her international background to help the student body.
