Wakana Takahashi – 2013 Student Advisory Council Representative, Asia
Wakana Takahashi was born and raised in Japan. She came to the United States and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington, in 2010. Wakana learned about University of Maryland University College (UMUC) in 2011 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration. Additionally, she works for British Airways at Narita Airport in Tokyo.
Having earned a spot on the Dean’s List, Wakana has proven her academic capabilities. She has also been inducted into the honor society Alpha Sigma Lambda, Tau Chapter.
Wakana has a rich history of volunteerism and has enjoyed helping others and serving in any community in which she has lived. She is proud of the following activities:
- Completed an Accounting Foundations Certificate
- Served as an elementary school volunteer, 2010
- Volunteered with the Japanese Red Cross, 2012
- Served as Atsugi’s Student Ambassador, 2012
Wakana is grateful that UMUC’s global mission has afforded her the opportunity to continue her American educational journey in Japan. She believes that being a part of the UMUC Student Advisory Council is the best way to express her gratitude and the best place to use her international background to help the student body.
