Admission Requirements-Graduate

Official documents indicating successful completion of the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree. Applicants educated in countries other than the United States must have their official transcripts evaluated by an independent evaluation service. The evaluation company will send a copy of the evaluation both to the applicant and to University of Maryland University College (UMUC). Providing the transcript does not ensure admission to the Graduate School.

Proven English Language Proficiency. If English is not your native language, you need to demonstrate college-level proficiency in written English to University of Maryland University College (UMUC) by means of one of the following:

  • A minimum score of 575 on the written version, 233 on the computer version, or 90 on the Internet version of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and a minimum score of 4 on the Test of Written English (TWE), except for the Internet-based TOEFL, where no TWE is required; or
  • A minimum score of 7 on the IELTS, including the academic writing and academic modules.

Applicants must arrange to have official score reports sent directly from the testing agency to Graduate Admissions. The TOEFL score recovery code for UMUC is 5804.
