Important Reminder About Illegal Downloading

UMUC reminds our community of students, faculty, and staff, and hotel and conference facility guests that downloading music, movies, and other copyrighted material, without the required permissions, may be copyright infringement. The violation could expose you to civil and criminal legal action.  Copyright protection actions and criminal charges are being brought with increasing frequency and can result in significant monetary damages to the accused. Unlawful downloading using UMUC electronic resources (including our e-mail system, wireless connection, computer laboratories, etc.) also violates UMUC policy and exposes our computers to viruses.

Always think before you click. Consider and use legal alternatives for accessing music and movies on the Internet. UMUC urges you to be informed and to comply with the law.

The Recording Industry of America has created a short video addressed to university audiences. Please access it at: http://www.campusdownloading.com/dvd.htm.
