Learning Applications Development and Support
Learning Applications Development and Support (LeADS) provides consulting and technical services to UMUC students, faculty and staff, as well as to external clients in business and education on the integration of computer technologies in education and training activities. LeADS seeks to improve the quality and increase the availability of education for its clients through the use of computer technology.
WebTycho
University of Maryland University College, a nationally recognized leader in technology-supported distance education, offers courses through WebTycho, a comprehensive educational system accessed via the World Wide Web.
This format offers:
- Access to library materials, online catalogs, and courseware
- Computer-mediated conferencing for class discussions
- Support for work groups within classes for team projects
- Group document editing capability for collaborative writing assignments and work group projects
- Electronic mail
- Real-time chat rooms
- Electronic homework and term paper submissions, in binary or text formats
- Online help and documentation
- Secure access to protect privacy
- Class and work group rostering, statistical information, and other instructional management tools for faculty
- A dedicated Help Desk staff operating 24/7
Everything operates entirely through a Web Browser. To participate, you must have a computer, a web browser, connection to the Internet, and an e-mail account.
