One of the barriers that I had to overcome was just the stigma going to night school, or going to a nontraditional sort of learning environment. And I was concerned about that. Many of my friends had gone off to four-year universities and I was working and going to school at night and was afraid that I was going to miss something. But when I came to UMUC, I found out that I didn’t miss anything. As a matter of fact, I gained a lot of great contacts, people who were in similar life situations, people that I could learn from, tremendously dedicated and talented professors. So I was able to live my life and live up to the responsibilities I had and have a wonderful, wonderful learning opportunity.
