Guidelines for Abstracts and/or Conference Papers
The submission of an abstract and/or contributed paper for review for the 4th Annual United States-China Forum on Distance Education indicates that it or a similar version has not been previously published, accepted for publication, or concurrently under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that that paper will not be submitted elsewhere until such time as it has been rejected from this conference. Submissions also indicate the author's commitment to prepare the written paper for the proceedings publication and make a presentation at the forum at a time and place assigned by the conference coordinating committee. Paper sessions will allow 25 minutes for each author within the 90 minute block.
Conference Papers Should Include
- A cover letter with the paper's title and name
- The address, e-mail address, telephone number of the contact person(s) for the abstract
- The maximum submission for sole authorship is one abstract; for joint authorship, two abstracts
- Use an 8.5 x 11 inch page with 1-inch margins for the Title/Cover information page
- Use an 8.5 x 11 inch page with 1-inch margins for a separate Abstract page
- Type the abstract page using single spacing, with Times New Roman or Times Roman font; all body text (except the title) must be 12 pt using black text.
- Authors should refrain from identifying themselves or their institutions elsewhere in the paper.
Before transmitting the abstract for review to the 4th Annual United States-China Forum on Distance Education, authors will have read and accepted the Copyright Release Form for the forum. Only those papers that have accepted the copyright release form will be submitted for jury review.
The accepted electronic file format for both the abstract and final paper submission is either Portable Document Format (PDF) or MS Word. In case you are submitting your work in a PDF format, make sure you send it as an open file, without any data protection.
Inclusion of accepted papers in the conference proceedings is conditional upon receiving payment for at least one full registration page per paper before April 25, 2008. Each paper must have a separate registered author. The maximum submission for the sole authorship is one paper; for joint authorship, two papers.
Refereeing Procedures for Abstracts
All abstract submissions will be refereed when submitted according to guidelines. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two committee members, using a blind evaluation process. Notices of acceptance or rejection will contain comments from referees. In the interests of achieving breadth and balance in the conference program and dealing with time and space constraints, the committee may suggest changing the type of submission or merging or altering session titles and topics.
