recognizes the contributions of those who sponsored or participated in Module 2 of the
Virtual Resource Site for Teaching with Technology and provides a record of responsibility
for the content and design of the Web site.
Project Staff
This project is a joint initiative of two units at University of Maryland University College, the Center for Teaching and Learning and
the Center for the
Virtual University, both part of the Office of Distance Education and Lifelong Learning.
Barbara Kaplan, Director, Center for Teaching and Learning, served as
project director and oversaw the development of Module 2.
Jeff Finlay, Assistant Director, Center for the Virtual University, wrote
content for Module 2, coordinated design and delivery, and contributed the Related Resources.
Duncan MacDonald, Distance Learning Coordinator, Center for Teaching and
Learning, led the creation of Module 2, arranging faculty video interviews, assisting in
the selection and editing of appropriate clips, and otherwise consulting on all aspects of
development, design, and delivery.
Susan Pollack, Communications Specialist, Center for the Virtual University,
developed the Web pages and served as content editor for Module 2.
Evelyn Marren, Producer, Media and Cable Programming, Center for the Virtual
University, coordinated faculty video interviews and provided extensive help in selecting
clips and suggesting their appropriate presentation and use. Marren also assisted in
digitizing and encoding faculty video interviews.
Todd Larson, Video Production Specialist, Center for the Virtual University,
digitized and encoded faculty video interviews and prepared faculty member stills as
introductions to the clips.
Christopher Norris, Video Production Specialist, Center for the Virtual
University, assisted in digitizing and encoding faculty video interviews.
Michael Smith, Manager, Video Production and Cable Services, Center for the
Virtual University, provided logistical support with video digitizing staffing and
services.
Justus Baumgartner, Web Multimedia Specialist, Center for the Virtual
University, linked the digitized clips to the RealMedia server and tested their
functionality.
Carrie Gahagan, Multimedia Producer, Center for the Virtual
University, suggested design enhancements and possible templates for Module 2.
Andy Joyce, Multimedia Graphic Artist, Center for the Virtual University,
created the Web template designs and specialized icons for the site.
Louise Vanderbeek, Instructional Designer, Office of Instructional Development,
reviewed the content and provided feedback on the conceptual framework of Module 2.
