Animations are dynamic (i.e., not static) Web sites combining a variety of media, such as images, film clips, banners, audio clips, music, and text. Creating animations usually requires expertise with authoring programs.

Examples of Uses Fractals, cartoons, promotional materials or films, demonstrations of concepts or scale

Requirements for Using it on a Computer To run animations through a Web browser, you will need to download the Macromedia Shockwave Player (it's free). The computer should be high end (Pentium-class PC or Macintosh PowerPC) with a fast connection to the Web (T1 or at least a 56K modem). The browser should be Java enabled, and the computer should be equipped with speakers and a sound card.

Requirements for Using it to Create Materials Animations require a high level of expertise in graphic design and programming and are costly and time-consuming to produce. (More information about programs used to create animations may be found in authoring programs).
