Systems Approach to Designing Online Learning Activities

The systems approach described here outlines seven steps to follow. Steps 1–4 explain how to think about your course and clearly articulate the learning outcomes you want it to achieve. Steps 5–7 suggest how you might adapt a variety of strategies for enhancing interactive learning in different activities. These seven steps offer teachers an opportunity to think through their courses from start to finish while also learning by example how to successfully integrate technology into their courses.

The overall approach outlined here may be compared with the six faculty presenter interviews, which each focus on different realities and aspects of designing and delivering online courses.
