Enabling students to work successfully in teams is a key dimension of online learning. Whitesel outlines two methods for helping students build teams.

The first method suggests ways of defining expectations for online collaborations as a means of creating clearly delineated assignments targeted to specific learning needs. The second method provides ideas about how to guide student-student interactions and when to intervene in them.
