Joseph Sheppard: A Voyage from Memory
1930-1960

Join the UMUC community for Joseph Sheppard: A Voyage from Memory (1930–1960). Sheppard has explored and taught painting in a realist tradition for decades, and many of his works are based on cultural moments and events in the history of the United States. This exhibition focuses on Sheppard's artistic journey and his creation of images based on his memory of significant American events and personal moments from 1930 to 1960.

Sheppard's works touch on a variety of poignant subjects and people from American history, including the civil rights movement, Mother Jones, Muhammad Ali, Elvis, Picasso, the Baltimore Colts and Orioles, New York's subway, and more.
