Student Services at Henderson Hall

A representative from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) maintains office hours in the Lifelong Learning Education Center at Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. We support UMUC students taking classes online or at other university locations. Henderson Hall is a military installation. Please call this location to receive information on base access. In some instances, you may be required to complete a Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) waiver.


Directions and Parking

Take Interstate 395 south to Exit 8A toward Columbia Pike. Stay in the right lane and exit right to VA-27/Washington Boulevard/Columbia Pike. Stay in the right lane and take the exit for Columbia Pike. From the exit ramp, turn right on Columbia Pike. Head toward the Pentagon and make a left at the next stoplight. Follow the road to the next security gate. The Lifelong Learning Education Center (Building 29) is on the left. Our office is in Room 206.

Librarians are available via e-mail, chat, telephone, and instant message. For more information and to access the online catalog, more than 125 research databases, and view tutorials on how to conduct research, please visit the UMUC library.

Testing Services

This location offers the following types of testing services for members of the military and the civilian community with base access:

  • Placement testing for writing and math courses on a walk-in basis
  • Proctoring services for non-UMUC students

Placement and proctoring services available by appointment through the Henderson Hall education center. Please call to schedule an appointment.

Security and Civilian Waiver

If you do not have a military identification, call 301-621-9882 or 410-551-0431 for information on base entry. Due to recent conditions of heightened security, civilian students taking UMUC classes on military bases may be required to complete a FERPA waiver in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act permitting UMUC to provide personal information (i.e., Social Security number, address, and telephone number) to the military administration.
